NEW BET TYPE COMMENCES
The new bet type ANY2 commenced during the Spring Carnival at Newcastle. Any two placegetters will win punters a dividend under a new place quinella bet
type to be introduced in Queensland this week.
The new bet type, to be known as "Any2", is an extension of the traditional quinella bet and the first of its kind in Australia.
Any2 betting will be available from September 15 with punters required to select any two of the three placegetters in any order.
The winning combinations may be 1st and 2nd, 1st and 3rd or 2nd and 3rd in any order.
Off-course TAB outlets will offer Any2 betting while on course punters will be offered Any2 betting if the racecourse has new KB terminals installed.
The minimum Any2 bet will be $1, although betting in multiples of 50 cents will be accepted.
Any2 will only be offered on races of at least runners, of seven after one late scratching. If the original field is reduced to six or less, Any2 betting will be cancelled.
Unitab has beaten Tabcorp to the introduction of the place quinella betting format. Tabcorp plans to introduce the same bet form under the marketing name of "Duet" during the spring carnival.
Winform scored the ANY2 when the first and third rated selections did exactly that and ran first and third. The cost of $3.00 to combine three horses, is the same cost as taking three horses in the quinella. Let's say we take the $3 Quinella bet and the $3.00 ANY2 bet. Our cost is $6 and we missed the quinella which paid $76.60 but we got the ANY2 bet which paid $37.00 which is a good dividend for finding two placegetters. The interesteing thing is this. Imagine first place is a photo and we lose. We now have second and third but we still get the $37.00. It's great fun but and congratulations to Unitab for getting in first.
