Rinky Dink resumes with a resounding win - now for the Diamond & Slipper
2yo Distorted Humor filly, RINKY DINK, continued on her winning way on Saturday at Caulfield, winning the $50,000 Rancher Plate.
RINKY DINK, trained by Rick Hore-Lacy, and bred & part-owned by LAKEWOOD STUD, will now be aimed at the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes/Golden Slipper double.
First up after a short spell, RINKY DINK, showed good speed and alot of courage to run down the heavily supported Tully Tango to win the 1000m race, where she carried a penalty of 2kg for her win in the Listed Subaru Stakes at Flemington on Oaks Day.
Trainer Rick Hore-Lacy was impressed with her win "She's certainly pretty smart. She carried the (weight) penalty into this race and did it very well, and finished off like she'll be better at 1200m".
The timing of RINKY DINK's impressive first up win couldn't be better for breeders and part-owners LAKEWOOD STUD, as they have 9 yearlings by her sire DISTORTED HUMOR going through the upcoming Adelaide Magic Millions sale, including a colt from a stakes-winning mare, a half-sister to a stakes-winner, a half-brother to a G3 winner, a colt from a half-sister to a G1 winner, and youngsters from the families of CHAMPAGNE, ST REIMS, ROYSYN, SOVEREIGN APPEAL, FAIRY KING PRAWN, EASY ROCKING, ROYAL COURTSHIP.
A half-brother to RINKY DINK will also go through the Adelaide sale as part of the Lakewood Stud draft.
DISTORTED HUMOR's early success in Australia is no suprise to those who follow the USA scene, where he is Leading the First Crop Sires List, and is 2nd on the 2yo Sires List, behind only STORM CAT, with his progeny earning in excess of US$1.3 Million, including the G1 winner AWESOME HUMOR.
The only DISTORTED HUMOR to be sold at the Gold Coast Magic Millions sale made $110,000.
