It is the Wellington Boot meeting in country NSW. In a simple Class Four race over 1600 metres, there is over $60,000 in the trifecta pool spread across three State TABs. Winform ratings find a trifecta in the top five selections about 20% of the time.

The key to making profits, though, is only to bet when the trifecta is expected to pay a reasonable dividend.

In this race our selections are paying $5.00, $26, $16, $46 and $2.50. If just one of our longer priced selections runs a place we know we will make a handy profit. The minimum dividend we could expect is about $200.

In the end the favourite runs third but our $46 shot lands the money and the resultant dividend is $2200+ in NSW, $3200 + on STAB and $3600+ on Unitab.
