Winter Edition
Last Updated for: Tuesday 1st September 2009.
Tuesday 1st September: The girls will put in a link to my Spring Diary later today. Yesterday we had three lesg of the Grafton Quaddie but missed in a close go on a $2,000 payout. Today Powerplay will try for all three Quaddies.
Our Feature Race was successful again and I apologise for giving out the wrong phone pin in yesterdays email. It is 2612 on the Daily Feature Race 1902 210 868. The C Plan had a good winning day. I had two wins from three for our staff punters club and made a couple of hundred and quit.
Monday 31st August: The Spring analysis proved successful on it's first week with two wins and a second in the three selected races. Sunday there were two Premiums for just one photo second. Powerplay has had a drought with three legs of the Kalgoorlie Quaddie and missing the last leg. It will all fire when least expected. I noticed we had five legs of the Big 6 Saturday too (the NSW one) which didn't go off. We ran second in the last leg. GTX subscribers who combined the Trakform rated horses with ours (Trakform comes free with GTX) would have had the top rated Friday Creek which knocked us off at $91!
There was one good result yesterday. We scored in the Daily Feature Race where I gave Philda one more chance and it won.
The saga with my son continues. He has improved markedly and we met with his doctor last night who advises that he will be ready to give life another go in two to three weeks. Thanks to those who have shared similar experiences.
Sunday 30th August: I'm getting in early because I have to head to Sydney as soon as I post the Ratings tomorrow (Sunday). Today Grandslam had a great day. OTB had a win and a place from three but a loss. Premium had two bets and the one that didn't qualify won but the "good" one lost.
Sadly, had we known for sure that Caulfield was going to be downgraded we would have had Jungle Ruler as a Grandslam. I concentrated on the C Plan Saturday and had five wins from nine events for just one unit profit. That was Mic Mac's race. I threw an extra $1,000 on Mic Mac, I thought he was that good.
Saturday 29th August: James Thomson is a long term Member and he is currently sailing the Pacific. I am jealous. Here's where you can follow his travels: www.sailingthepacific.wordpress.com
A really good betting day today with only one qualfying Premium. Yesterday's started at $1.50 and did not meet the rules and lost. It was a C Plan race and our other selection in the race won.
We have some good looking Grandslam bets today and I am hoping Only the Best has a good day. There are some very good selections that should do well.
Last night we had two people from New Guinea stay over, a member of their parliament and a kick boxer. Both were here for the kick boxing championship which "Alfie" lost. I stayed up with them as they waited for a 3 a.m. airport pickup and we feasted on their favourites, sweet corn and sweet potato. They tell me these are favourite foods back home and the sweet corn is sold in fast food outlets. They are also great fans of Rugby League and we watched both of last nights games and both selected the losing sides. North Queensland was robbed but still had enough chances to put two teams away. They are out.
Friday 28th August: Three Premium bets yesterday for a win and a place. The rider on our Gold horse was not good, unless it won, then the rider is a genius. My son is making progress at last so I can concentrate on business once agin I hope. The plumbers had to replace the plumbing inbetween the ground floor and first floor yesterday because the tiler let his cement fill them up. We have some nice holes in the ceiling which is about the same thing that is happening to my betting bank at present.
Powerplay has been virtually inactive the past couple of weeks as we are selective with our meetings and by coincidence there have been few that qualified. That will change and we will be busy again.
I hope to follow some of the action today as we send out the last of the latest Newsletter. Tonight I have two guests from New Guinea who are on a reciprocal visit but I won't be going there. Have a good day today. Tomorrow looks like a good betting day.
Thursday 27th August: There weren't enough runners at ballarat yesterday to make a Quaddie worthwhile. My only action was the one Premium bet and it lost. Using that particular rule, there had been no previous losers in the past two years, not in memory anyway. I guess you had to see it coming sometime.
I wasn't able to check on the C Plan as we were all busy getting Magazines in envelopes. Yes we still do that ourselves. The last of them go out today and those that want it from the Newsagents can pick it up on Monday 31st August. The online version takes work and will be available next week. We have advertised for another assistant as we still have trouble keeping up. The basic work of posting the Ratings is fine and we still get our orders out the day we receive them but we are keen to offer more to our clients and that needs an extra pair of hands.
I noticed we have started the ball rolling on the whip rules and already there is a meeting to take place between jockeys and the Australian Racing Board. The jockeys feel, and rightly so, that they should not be concentrating on how many times they use the whip in a tight finish. It's funny. They have had six months to sort this all out and what is happening now is very predictable.
I am working on my comments for this Saturdays major races and they will be emailed to all Spring Packages Subscribers as a bonus for this weekend.
Wednesday 26th August: Another day with little action. Our truck driver forgot to bring our magazines up from Sydney. Luckily they have arrived this morning and are now being packed for despatch later today.
I experimented with a new Singles Plan and actually won quaite a bit in late April into May before a savage reverse swept all my winnings away and more. I stopped for a while. I have only just had the time to check on how the plan is going and apart from that bad burst in late May it made profits in June and July. I intend going over my bets again, not to test them, they have only had one losing month this year, but to test my staking. Would that have improved things? I am guessing it would.
Another two quality riders scorched for breaking the whip riding rules. It's difficult. In Australia where riders have been consistently punished for not riding out their mounts it must be hard breaking habits of a lifetime and who in a tight finish, is counting? Imagine yourself riding your bet home in the last few hundred metres. Was that five or six or fifty six shouts of "Go Go Go and Come On Come On Come On".
Tuesday 25th August: What a windy day! My BBQ just swept across to the other side of the deck. Last week two furniture guys had trouble moving it at all. Prue had to select a Best Bet yesterday and it won at $13.50, she also picked the Daily Feature Race and scored the $3.20 winner Quinella and the $180+ Trifecta. Happy days. I might let her pick again today only this time she might remember to put on our Staff Punters Club bets. We were busy yesterday and it can slip your mind.
No Powerplay yesterday but the Powerplay Singles had a great day with the best winner at $18. It's about time as the longshots seem to have dried up. Peter number one called me yesterday to advise me of this just before the winner got up. I hope he was on it. Peter number two sent an email advising that Centrebet had banned him from certain bet types but they refused to discuss the reasons with him other than to say that the bet type Best Of The Best, was only available to 'recreational punters'. Peter is not a professional he tells me and the only time he has done well with Centrebet was in the tennis. We are loading up the correspondance between Peter and Centrebet in our feedback on the main page. Have a look and comment yourself, click here.
Monday 24th August: Susannah is off for two days so we are under the pump again. One qualified Premium yesterday for one loser. It didn't even run a place which is very disappointing. I have moved house but have no internet access there until Telstra decide to press the button. Our Daily Feature Race was a second and third and we had the recommended Quinella all the way down the straight until no 17 from Barrier 17 ran over the top. Dont' they usually run 17th?
Anyhow a busy day today. Our Only The Best promotion is closing at the end of the week so it's the last chance to take advantage of the offer. Our email Newsletter will have details again, to order simply phone the office on: (02) 4950 1747.
Sunday 23rd August: We shouldn't have had a great day with Grandslam yesterday but we did. Three good winners, and if you are one of the sixty four people who didnt resubscribe this year, get back on board now. Carrara, Secrets Untold and Deer Valley. Now there's a tale. Daniela Ganderton was fined thousands AND suspended for several weeks for overusing the whip on Deer Valley. Had he not done so the horse would have lost. Now if you were on the runner up, the stewards should have protested on your behalf. Mind you , what passes for a whip these days wouldn't hurt such a big animal. Anyhow, it is a highly contentious issue.
Premium was confusing yesterday. Initially we gave out a horse in Adelaide as a Best Bet. Then we found that the trcak was downgraded on the TabOnline website. In fact, what it was, was the two jumps races were conducted on a Dead track and all the gallopsraces on good. So it depends on when you looked up the site what bets you got from us. One version of Premium had three qualifying bets for a win and all three placed, the other was a win and a place from two. Another horse did not qualify but won anyway.
I have had emails and can confirm for myself that several betting sites were under attack from cyber criminals over the past few days. I myself was a victim as a bet I placed on Deer Valley, did not get on costing me $1600 profit. SportsAlive, Sportingbet and Iasbet are just three examples of sites that were either slow or inaccessible yesterday for at least part of the day.
Over The Odds was definitely accessible yesterday as our Members won $12,000+ from them on the day. It was a great days racing and Poweplay had a good many winners but did not snare any Trebles or Quaddies, although there were a couple of nice Quinellas and Trifectas and a First Four. Good luck today.
Saturday 22nd August: Trials and tribulations first. Can't do the dishes because the screw in sink plugs are missing. The upstairs plumbing is partially blocked causing an overflow on the bathroom floor. No sewerage yet. Lucky. We got my son into a detox and rehab centre yesterday. It's not easy. As we were doing that the Health service advised that they were "scheduling" Mat. This involves having him picked up by police and forcibly detaining him in a mental health unit. This is after he presented and asked to enter the facility voluntarily four times in a week and was turned away. Twice he was advised that they had a bed for him and twice when he turned up they said no. Basically he wasn't "sick enough". Enough of the bitch.
Thursday I was under the pump so as there was just the one Premium Special I threw $1,000 at it. Won by four lengths at $3.70. Unable to do anything yesterday but as it turned out there were no selections at all. We got a very interesting email from "hally" and you can read it under Winform Testimonials and feedback on our main oage bottom right.
Today's Feature Races have been selected by the girls. Don't knock it. Susannah scored the winner in the last two or possibly three Daily Feature Races and I think there might have been a Quinella or Trifecta too. Did you see that one last week that paid $3600+?
It's a good day today. My first real chance to have a decent punt for over a week. I liked the Bulldogs big win over Geelong last night. These two teams and St Kilda, haven't seen enough of Collingwood lately to make up my mind, are all worthy Grand Finalists with a never say die attitude. In the meantime it looks like the Ashes have gone!
Friday 21st August: Garry and Prue are out of the office today so today will be spent labelling and packing newsletters ready to send out to members next week. Our Spring edition of Horse Racing Australia Magazine will be sent out next week also to current subscribers. If you wish to subscribe please order a subscription by clicking here
Thursday 20th August: By the time you read this I will be moving into our new home. The process started December 2007 and after countless stuff ups by the builder Eden Brae, and there are still countless faults, we may actually enjoy ourselves at some stage. Next is a trip to Sydney to help our son who has been rejected for admission at Hornsby Hospital every day for a week. If you saw the news last night you will see that everyone else is trying to get out. With luck we can get him into a private hospital.
Anyhow, one bet one loser yesterday but the C Plan had a good day.
As I'm looking through my stuff to see what can be dumped and what needs to go to the new office I came across some interesting things. One is the private ruling from 2000 from the tax office. I told them my betting turnover was in excess of $500,000 and asked if I had to pay tax on profits or would I get a deduction if I lost. The answer in authorisation 6801 was no I didnt have to pay tax on winnings and nor could I get a deduction and they quoted several precedents. The fact that I was carrying on a successful business advising professional punters was not an issue.
I also found my records from 2004 when I made a mere $27000+ profit from turnover of $1,424,639. It turned out that all of my profits came from betting parlays, trebles, quaddies etc. The Trifectas/Quinellas and so on which had been successfully previously before flexi betting came in, were now making regular losses. Last year I found the same. Most of the profit was in parlays etc. My other betting made a mere 2.7% profit on turnover. Mind you, the end result was a tidy sum.
The latest Horse Racing Australia Magazine won't be posted out until late next week but we think you will enjoy it. I hope to be back in the office on Friday.
Wednesday 19th August: To see how it goes, anyone new to the Racing game could simply look back through the diary. I did that myself yesterday and I saw that where my punting is at now, is as it has been many times in the past. I also see that the winnings pour in at times. There were two Premiums yesterday, the first disappointed, making it eight losers but then the $4.00 winner.
Powerplay subscribers are twiddling their thumbs this week as we have a few days off. By coincidence none of the meetings since Monday have qaulified for the strategy. Launceston qualifies today. The only betting days this week is today, Thursday then Sat/Sun. I better check the Quaddies and Treble tomorrow.
Tuesday 18th August: It had to happen. The Premium specials reached a losing run of seven yesterday, our worst for the year but if we can have 13 winners in a row then equally we can have 13 losers. Let's hope it is not in this run. Two Premium qualifiers today, maybe we can have two winners.
With Prue off sick yesterday and me unavailable, news will have to wait until later in the week. In the next Newsletter there are some well apreciated comments from Members who won in our prize draw. The results for the past few years are freely available on our website and are generally profitable but like everything else, the profits come in fits and starts. I wasn't happy therefore to see some negative comments posted on the internet like "I won the book but I doubt it is worth the postage let alone the $149 others paid for it." This person I can guarantee you hasn't even placed one single bet on any of the system selections but simply dismissed it out of hand. Here at Winform, we have been so impressed with the results that we supply the selections to our Premium Members and I myself always include them in my Quaddie and Trebles selections with some happy results I must say. That said, no system will last forever but those systems have been finding winners for over ten years in some cases.
Unfortunately, there are no qualifications of truth on the internet and no qualifying of opinions. We do our best and present results including wins and losses. Sorry about the rant, I hope I'm not sounding like a cranky old man but honestly I have to get in practice just in case I do get old one day.
Monday 17th August: One Premium special for a 2nd yesterday. It was a good price. Two abandoned meetings, both Powerplay venues and as usual we had one venue with three legs of the Quaddie in. Possibly no email today as we are really tied up with the release of the latest mag. It's proof reading day and then labelling subscribers envelopes ready to mail the mag out next week.
Susannah will be compiling the latest Newsletter so if you have anything you need to say or need any questions answered email winform@hunterlink.net.au today.
The new whip rule is already having an effect. It is subtle but there nevertheless. It is frustrating for Owners, jockeys and trainers but in six months, for that's how long it may take, it will have all settled in and become routine. Until then horses that need urging will not be performing and the more genuine types will be winning.
Sunday 16th August: Grandslam and Only The Best both scored one winner from three, Winform Singles two from nine. The first weekend Sports bet won, that's now four in a row but that's where the good news stops. Premium had the worst day for a couple of months. Three qualifiers for one place. It's no big deal but after such a strong performance it was unexpected. The C Plan won the first two eligible races and that's where I should have stopped. It was about 40% winners on the day when I had to leave the punting for other commitments.
The Winform Top Two went like a bomb for the first dozen or so races too before a mid afternoon slump but then some good prices came in. Overall not a good day for Powerplay, three legs of the Pakenham Quaddie but no joy in the last with three runners but not the right one. Rangirangdoo the most impressive winner in Sydney, Monashee Dancer impressed in Brisbane, Kasabian won again in Perth and Predatory Pricer excelled at his first start in Melbourne. Is he in the Caulfeld Cup? Is he what!
I did lose yesterday, about 2k betting various strategies but it will come back, maybe today.
Saturday 15th August: A busy day for me and it didn't involve Racing yesterday. I did notice that the first C Plan race was a winner followed by four losing races and then three winning ones and a 1.5 approx profit on the day. Powerplay found a $39+ winner at Betezy and Trevor Johns book found a $40 winner at Scone.
A big day today with Rosehill expecting its first Good Track for nearly six months. Watch out for form reversals.
Friday 14th August: A nice C Plan winner at the first opportunity on the heavy track at Ballarat yesterday. If you have the book look at page 18. The heavy track and distance restriction don't apply to these. Powerplay subscribers missed the Quaddie once again, no big deal, but we did get five of the eight winners at Ballarat.
The funeral yesterday allowed us to catch up with old friends as well as remind us of past experiences we shared with our friend Cheryl.
I see when I got home that there were four Premium selections, one of which failed the Bendeich rules. It lost (correction: It initially wasn't a selection but after several scratchings became an S7 apparently) Of the other three two won and the shortest priced one ran second. Or you could say that "all three placed". A Patent bet with IASbet paid a 1.5 unit profit.
Does anyone else find, like I do that their broadband drops out then you have to reboot the modem and hope it all comes back soon? Frustrating isn't it. Also I find a telephone call can cause it to drop out too.
Thursday 13th August: What did I say yesterday about small dividends? The Daily Feature Race yesterday. Susannah recommended combining the five selections as it was a very open race. The winner paid $6.50 best fluc but the Quinella paid $130+ and the Trifecta paid a massive $3604.90.
The very first eligible C Plan race was a good winner with a 100% profit. No need to bet on, unless you want to. Today, sadly, I have a funeral to attend. Cheryl worked for Ros and I for many years in our retail business Toyworld and she ran the Racing business for short periods while I was away in the early nineties. She was a good friend to our whole family but sadly, is another victim of breast cancer which after a five year break, returned. Her passing is a relief to herself, her family and friends. She turned 48 on her last day here and today we will celebrate her life.
My son played in her indoor cricket team amd she played representative indoor cricket for NSW and was a star.
Wednesday 12th August: Not much action yesterday, although I noticed Trevor Johns strategy copped a $64 winner Monday and a $20 winner yesterday. Susannah is well enough to work again today so maybe we can catch up a bit. There is no Powerplay betting at all today so maybe the C Plan might be our best bet if the tracks are in reasonable condition.
I read Roger Biggs latest book "More Handicapping My Way" this week and there is some very interesting new information after he trawled through over 2 million horse runs. In this book Roger focuses on what he believes are the best field sizes to work on and his work verifies my studies. He alerts us to what are very clear bad betting strategies and this alone will save you the cost of the book in losing bets that are avoided.
There was only one Powerplay venue yesterday and I don't see the point in working just one meeting and tying up your day when you could be doing something else, like getting into the fresh air. The fields were small and this usually means small dividends when you do find winners.
Tuesday 11th August: I had a big win on the first C Plan race yesterday and that was to be it but I got into another good betting race for a second win. Powerplay landed seven of the nine races at Muwullimbah yesterday but missed the one that counted...the last leg of the Quaddie and Treble. We had four horses in that race paying from $5,000 to $20,000 and not longshote either. I really thought we had it but in the end it wasn't even close.
Our Daily Feature Race gave us a good win. Today we are back to finishing the magazine to send off to the printers.
Monday 10th August: Craig Boots did the right thing witht the Footy Tips at the weekend scoring three form five but look at the prices. St Kilda $2.80, Fremantle $2.40 and the half time fulll time Storm $1.92. That's a nice profit in anybody's language.
We are moving house later this week and I hope I still have Internet access. I can change the phone no worries but Telstra still insist that they won't even consider transferring the broadband until five days after the new phone line is in. Why? What earthly reason would there be? Foxtel will charge me $100 to move but if I cancel my current service and take up a fresh subscription for the same monthly fee it costs me nothing.
Four Premiums yesterday, two qualifiers, one win. One of the unqualified won also. It is a week since my last multi Three legs was the best I could do anywhere yesterday but not the right three legs to make the Treble.
I have been in the office since 5 a.m. and it's been bloody cold.
Sunday 9th August: It's a tough day when nothing works. Yesterday the C Plan was on fire, bouncing back after an up and down couple of weeks. Premium had three from four last weekend but only one from four this weekend. Grandslam had only two bets but no result, the Singles had just one winner and Only The Best two good placings but no winners from four.
Powerplay Subscribers almost scored the Melbourne Quaddie for the second week in a row but had to watch as our last leg ran 2nd. The Weekend Sports bets are two from four BUT St Kilda won as predicted and can you believe the price? $2.80.
That's a massive price for a team that hasn't lost a match all season. The strategy of resting players with niggling injuries paid off and a possible new star was found.
My team the Newcastle Knights need an unlikely win today to stay in contention for the finals but captain Kurt Gidley has said that their training this week has been their best for the season. At $2.40 or better they may be worth a bet.
Saturday 8th August: One Premium fror one win by 4 lengths. That's what we like to see. I wasn't on of course. Today I have obligations again but it looks like there will be as many as five Premium qualifiers, five Only The Best depending on scratchings and track conditions and a coupl at least, of Grandslam so plenty of action for those who want it. I like McClintock in the last at randwick and took the $8 and $8.50 available overnight. That is in to $7 with the scratching of Bejewelled. It's still a great price.
I'm hoping to have time to get my bets on today and I can check later. The Weekend Sports bets found one out of two last night. Let's hope for better today. There is an odd bet at Betfair. You can bet whether or not St Kilda will go through the season undefeated. Most think they will lose today. I don't. The "new" players will be keen to show what they can do leading up to a possible Grand Final appearance in a few weeks time. St Kilda are successful because of the way the team plays, not the way a select few play. It is a tough game and the Hawks have everything to lose or gain in this match.
Friday 7th August: No luck for me yesterday. One qualifying Premium bet for a second place and somehow I knew that would happen. I had a few losing Dutch Bets but unable to recover due to pressure of work and family. I am losing all of today but with two artifical track meetings I won't be missing much.
Thursday 6th August: Two Premium bets yesterday for one winner. That's a smal profit which I am happy to take. Powerplay had one of the worst days on record with only a small humber of short priced winners.
There was a huge plunge yesterday which caught me unawares. Gazza Guru was $7.50 in the ring and $9 on the Tote just a couple of minutes before the jump so I bet best tote. By the time they jumped he was into $5.50 on course and $5.50 best tote. Now the money to swing that is enormous. Someone knew the horse was ready and he led by up to ten lengths, holding on in the straight to win by a neck.
I won but nowhere near what I was expecting. Our Ratings were out becuase of a wrong time in the favourite's form guide. It still managed a close second. Plunges don't always come off but this one did. I reckon the result was in the hundreds of thousands at least.
Wednesday 5th August: The problem with getting three winners in a row when you have a 50% strike rate is that it is just as easy to get three losers in a row and four as has just happened. We don't surrender though as we know the long term result.
The only Powerplay venue yesterday was Cessnock where Talent To Burn was the winner at $11+ best tote. It wasn't the only winner but it was the one to fill my bank.
Personal issues will prevent me from doing much today but they are on again tomorrow. I did have a visit yesterday from John and his partner in crime as he took up his one on one professional punting clinic. It can be handy to have another person involved as they can share the load especially when we are all prone to disruptions of one kind or another in our busy lives. The session went well and John was well prepared with a well thought out list of questions which were all clarified with simple easy ( I hope ) to understand demonstrations of our software.
These sessions cost $295 with a full rebate against future software or subscription purchases or they are free as part of our Powerplay or Professional Punting packages.
I didn't get the Treble or Quaddie yesterday. I hope to have another go today. It won't take long. All I have to do is get the Powerplay selections and place the bets, about 10 minutes will do it.
Tuesday 4th August: I missed a couple of things yesterday. I missed uploading the diary and for the first time in the past few years I missed landing the Darwin Cup winner in the Top Two Rated horses. Our second Rated horse ran 2nd. I've never been to the Darwin Cup but I have promised myself a trip next year. Many Members have called me recently on their way to the North.
I've considered recently the possibility of bringing in fresh capital to the business. Many Members have their own Super funds. This would allow us to expand our range of services, especially the ability to provide ratings for individual meetings instead of our current set up of the whole day as the minimum. Also it would allow for video analysis and packages similar to our Spring Packages where comments are available for each of the races along with a recommended strategy. It would also allow us to attack the UK market which is much larger than ours.
There is also the potential for us to take out our own bookmaking licence. So how much would we need? One million? possibly two? One thing is for sure. I will refuse to close my mind to new opportunties. As has been said recently about age. You have to have a reason to get up in the morning. For many, it is so you can see what great opportunities are out there today.
Sunday 2nd August: I didn't realise until one Member emailed me that we had selected the Rosehill Quaddie at $13,000+ as well as the Caulfield Quaddie and also the NSW BIG6 $528,000. All the selections were in our top four rated horses. We email the top five selections for all meetings for just $15 for the day. Now that looks like great value.
The C Plan scored four of the first six eligible races yesterday but ended up 10 from 21 which is a best "guess" as I didn't watch after that (lots of work moving house). It was a tough week for the C Plan but it always comes back. Those subscribers who are doing it every day tell me that at just under 50% winning races it is under the long term average of 54% but that could possibly be attributed to the unusual number of wet tracks we have had this year.
Saturday 1st August: An interesting day today. Six Premium selections. Two of them failed the Bendeich rules for one placed horse. Now that left four. Three in a row then our last selection got caught wide all the way and dropped out. Still a parlay bet won $167 for a $10 unit stake. The winners are back.
The HRA selections had just two shortpriced winners and the singles and Only The Best missed the winners completely. Grandslam didn't though. Two winners from six at $2.90 and $23.80.
Powerplay subscribers pay $2995 to start and $2295 a year. We recommend those Members have a look at the Trebles, Running Doubles and the Quaddie. At Caulfield today an outlay of $96 scooped the $20,000 Quaddie and $24 got the $2000+ Treble, three legs of the Pakenham Quadidie (2nd and 3rd in that race) and 50% + winners overall.
So a few days ago we needed to borrow an extra $10k to get the carpet for the new house, not now. Between the Quaddie, Treble and three Premium winners all up I actually covered the loss of last weekend as well as the carpet. Most of our Members are beside themselves today. The Top Two was only 23% today but tjat included a $23, $18 and $35 winner.
At a guess we might get just one or two Premium bets tomorrow.
Friday 31st July: Last day of the month. Wouldn't mind a decent win today. The C Plan kicked off with a winner again yesterday. I was betting race to race hoping for a parlay. I did score three winning races from four. Then we had lunch. While that was on there were four, no five winning races in a row. It was just what I wanted but I never got another opportunity. Maybe today.
Our Winform Single, Kalbo, won by a length at $4. The Daily Feature missed. Tomorrow we see more Spring action with the 'Missile Stakes' for one. Winter is a very short season.
Thursday 30th July: The C Plan leapt to a profit in the first betting race of the day. Premium initially had four bets. Two of them failed the rules of 'The Key to Winning Consistently Edition Two'. That left two bets for a win and a second. The other two didn't win. That still leaves only two unplaced runners in more than a month but I don't want to say "when willl it stop." because the winners are right on average and we need them to keep going. Another run of three in a row would be nice.
The Daily Feature Race had a Quinella but those two runners were too short to make a profit on the race.
Wednesday 29th July: If you had losing bets with Sportsbet last Saturday, today is the day your bonuses come back so make sure you don't miss out as the bets expire at 6 p.m. today.
Yesterday our Powerplay subscribers picked up the Treble and Quaddie at Mackay for a small outlay. We missed the second last winner at Kyneton to miss both. There was one Premium bet which failed the test but still managed to place.
My coughing fits have subsided at last and I am looking forward to a new day without it.
On another positive note, Costa Rolfe has signed on as a new contributor to the magazine. He is the author of that great book released last year detailing the history of the Melbourne Cup. His assignment? Costa will attend the major Spring races, reporting on the events, the drama, and the excitement and as he and his friends try to punt their way to a fortune. As Rolfe says "one of my biggest lifetime achievements is losing the last leg of the Quaddie (mostly in a photo finish.) He is not the only one with that claim.
Tuesday 28th July: In between fits of coughing and spluttering yesterday I spent some time talking with clients and my betting was inconsistent as a result. I was not lucky, missing several winning races but no losing ones at all.
We have had some calls from members who would like to take the Premium Service but can't quite afford it yet. No offence but that is not the way to start your professional or semi-professional career. If you can't afford at least a $50 bet and a Bank of $2500 and preferably more, it is a waste of time. You would not make enough money to cover the cost and it's not that the cost is that great.
In the past few days I have dropped over $5k and it disturbs me as I do need cash to pay for carpet and tiles (around $20k). It's not that I haven't already organised the finance with my bank. It's just that I would prefer to pay cash from winnings and like most punters I really begrude giving my winnings back. So, disturbed I am but not concerned because I know my next big win is just around the corner but I would simply prefer to see my winning streak arrive sooner rather than later.
Monday 27th July: Sunday saw Powerplay Subscribers successful with the Cranbourne Quaddie ($2400) and Treble ($591.60). The amazing thing is that none of the winners was a longshot.
Our two Premium Selections ran 1st and 3rd and the Feature race unfortunately ran 2nd and 3rd. That doesnt pay for the Quinella. The C Plan was hot as it needed to be after Saturday.
Sunday 26th July: Daily Feature Race Trifecta $389. Weekend Feature Race a nose second. Grandslam six bets two winners at $2.90 and $7.70 but Winform Singles eight bets for one winner, Only The Best two bets two places, Premium two wins andfive placed from six bets, unfortunately one of the winners failed the rules. The C Plan had a rare dud of a day. All up I'm down 3.5k after a 2.5k win last weekend.
My worst error was forgetting to bet Ma Ma Machine at Belmont which would have wiped out most of my losses.
The biggest error amongst our clients? The 64 Grandslam Subscribers who did not resubscribe this year. They have missed out. The biggest winners? Those Grandslam Subscribers who resubscribed as much as two years in advance. This service has been going since 1986 and has rarely had a losing year. I tweak the process from time to time. This year the strike rate is off a couple of percent but the winnings are still there. How good will it be when we get the inevitabel catch up on the strike rate?
Saturday 25th July: Only three C Plan races yesterday for one win. I should have stopped after that win but thought I saw an opportunity. Too greedy. Our Daily Feature had a win. No Premium action. Powerplay kicked off brilliantly but you can't have winners at both ends. I focus on the Quaddie and Treble and missed those. Some early winners included a $15.50 winner.
I'm hoping for a good run today but first I have concrete coming at my house and I will get a late start. As long as I am in time for Super Satuday at Sportsbet which starts with Happy Hour at 1 p.m. Vicbet are not left out either. The jumps races are on at the valley and if you bet with Vicbet and your horse falls you get your money back (up to $150 I think but check out the site for details).
Friday 24th July: Bet at the TAB and you have around 18% against you. Get best of two Tabs and now it is only about 8% against you. Get best of all three Tabs and you use quality Selections and Ratings, especially on Country and Provincial races and you suddenly have the odds in your favour, especially if you take the bookies price when that is better again. Betezy is betting best of three Tabs on Country and Provincial races and you must win. It's that simple.
Thursday was a bonanza for the C Plan with six out of eight winning races. The last at Townsville our top rated horse was $38+ at best TAB. Susannah got the Daily Feature right but it paid poorly. Better luck today as Kellie gets to roll the dice.
Thursday 23rd July: Wednesday will go down as a special day. There were four Winform Singles for three winners. A $10 unit Yankee bet at IASbet.com returned $2510 profit. On top of that the C Plan had a wonderful day with a $25+ winner being the icing on the cake. That $25+ winner was also our recommended bet in the Daily Feature race selected by Susannah.
The latest Newsletter has been posted along with our final Best Australian Horse Racing Systems prize draw. As there are very few copies left to giveaway, I added a number of copies of Racing Pays More to give all Members a reasonable chance of winning something. All previous winners were deliberately not included in the computerised draw. Good luck.
Wednesday 22nd July: We have had a lot of enquiries about what is API? Members who have our Ratings will be able the find it listed in ‘A#’ column. Also Premium Members looking for the class of the race etc. need only look up the days’ Ratings and it is stated in the header of the race along with track conditions etc. Hope that answers a few queries. The first two eligible races today were C Plan winners.
Tuesday 21st July: Funny thing age. It comes so slowly in your youth and sneaks up so quickly as we age. The flu and other things have certainly slowed me down in the last week but it hasn't stopped the winners from coming. I did a rough check in my head and it is possible that now 15 wins and 23 places from the last 25 Premium qualified bets is the score.
No bets yesterday but the very first race of the day was an eligible C Plan race and that was a winner. Only 29% winners on the Top Two yesterday.
Damian called yesterday with an interesting tale. On Saturday he purchased a brand new super duper Plasma TV. By 1 p.m. Saturday, he told me, he had won enough using the Winform Ratings to pay for it in full. Not only that but he continued on Sunday but not expecting a repeat, bet winnings only. By the end of the weekend he had experienced the best winning weekend of his punting life.
We have also had calls from our affiliates in the bookmaking world to advise us that for the third weekend in a row our Winform Members as a group have cleaned them up. The tally for July is now over half a million all up. A run of winners for Only The Best, Grandslam, Winform Singles, Best Bets, and the Premiums as well as some Daily Feature Race wins have taken their toll.
Monday 20th July: It's 4 a.m. and I can't sleep so here I am writing early. It was raining winners yesterday with close to 50% winners in the Top Two. That's something I discovered after the event. Nevertheless I did have time to place a patent bet with IASbet.com on the two qualified Premium Bets (which both won) and the horse I mentioned yesterday which was our Daily Feature Race bet Innocenttassie in Grafton race six. This horse now has eleven starts at Grafton for six wins and eleven places. My $100 unit bet returned a profit of $2471. Can you believe I was able to get $4 about Innocentassie yesterday? It was backed into $2 on course.
Premium Subscribers who simply took the double plus the win bets got $7.84 for each dollar. Our Premium Service has turned into a licence to make money. The weekend gave us three winners from five selections. Just a note which is not in David Bendeich's book. When a horse is selected at Darwin's Fannie Bay and the race is not covered by the NSW TAB but it has a UNITAB Rating of 100 we are prepared to take it on trust.
Winform Gold is not having a great year with a loss of 4 units so far but the profits I have received by including these in with the other Premium Bets makes it more than worthwhile and there have only been about a hundred bets so far. I wonder, by the way, how many of you are up at similar hours, assessing your punting performance for the year to date?
Sunday 19th July: Problems with my 31 y.o. son prevented me from concentrating too much yesterday but Prue came up with the right mix. I know that many of you know my situation and have experienced problems yourselves with family members who are bi-polar. You would know also that the "system" can let you down with governments simply not allocating enough resources to a problem which is more widespread than anyone could guess. My wife is intending writing a book about our life and it won't be a feel good publication. Enough. No sympathy is required, we all have problems.
Grandslam yesterday two from six, Winform Singles three from nine, Only The Best two from four, Premium three selections for a win and a place. The Rosehill Quaddie in our Top Two Rated selections at $4700+ and the Daily Feature Race snared the First Four in the top six and although we didn't recommend it I actually placed it after my drama died down for our Staff Punters club. It paid $4700+ too and even our minimal investment brought sufficient rewards.
The Top Two Rated horses overall were bang on 33% and included some nice longshots.
One interesting thing you should all know. My mobile phone was off and I didnt know my pin to start it up and we were still able to call the emergency number regardless. I was impressed. Not only that but my son needed to be located for his own safety and police were able to track him through his mobile phone. Those TV shows we watch are not fiction after all.
There is one remarkable horse at Grafton today. It has had ten starts at the track for five wins and ten placings. The apprentice riding it has had nine rides for three wins and nine placings. I will be on it.
Saturday 18th July: I managed a C Plan win plus some enlightened place bets with one of them paying $10+ for the place yesterday. It didn't quite pay the musician's bill but the music was good. Kellie came up with another wining Daily Feature Race yeserday. In fact the runners came in almost in order. Her rank was 3, 2, 1, 4 and they came in 2, 3, 1,4. In any case the Quinella and winner provided a profit. Those who decided to take the First Four collected $700+. I would point out that we always show the Top Five but do not necessarily recommend some of the strategies that have won. Actually, that is two days in a row now that we have recommended the win adn quinella option.
Powerplay Subscribers missed the Treble but collected $765.80 on the running double in race 8 and 9. Our first leg runners in the treble didn't even come close.
The one Premium Selection yesterday ran another place. It looks like there are multipe selections today and I will be hoping for another big payoff. If you want to try the Premium at minimal cost, they are on: 1902 210 680 after 11:00 a.m. today for $11 and in fact everyday at least until the end of the month.
Friday 17th July: My daughter's 30th birthday and I agreed to pay for the music tonight. It cost how much? Gee I'd better have a winning day today.
The Daily Feature Race found us the Winner, Quinella Exacta and Trifecta in the top four yesterday. The C Plan hardly had a race to bet on yesterday. Anyone wanting a bet would have given up after the first couple of hours. Powerplay Subscribers didnt even get a full set of races to have a go at the Treble. We'll hope for more action today with four of the five meetings being eligible.
Premium had one eligible bet yesterday for a second. I don't think I have ever seen a horse so reluctant to stretch out, especially after being backed in from $3 into $1.50. Neverthless, there has only been one premium miss the place in the past two weeks. That is absolutely amazing. I've actually lost count but I think it is 19 out of 20 with 13 winning.
Thursday 16th July: What a day Wednesday. I intended to drop in and check the Newsletter and then go home as I was up to here with the flu. Susannah was sick so I had to stay. No problems. I helped out a few clients and set them up with Premium. We had one bet for another close second by the way.
I decided as I would be there for the day I would take the Powerplay Trebles and Quaddie and we scored bigtime finding a $50 winner amongst them. The Treble paid $3500+ and the Quaddie $10k+. What a great day, although with my bug the celebration was somewhat subdued.
Imagine my horror a few minutes later when I discovered I had put the Sale Race 4 Selections in instead of the Race 5 ones. No Quaddie for this little ducky! In my half concious state I took the selections off the screen instead of making a bird of it and printing them out then carefully checking them off before pressing the confirm button.
So if you are one of our Powerplay Subscribers and you got the Quaddie, then you got more because I wasn't on. Now let that be a lesson to everybody. It was to me.
Wednesday 15th July: Just the one Premium Selection yesterday, which ran second after a bumping dual in straight. A protest was loged, but sadly was unsuccessful. It looks like two selections today with just one of the passing the rule in the 'Key To Winning Consistently Edition Two'. So let hope for better luck today.
Tuesday 14th July: Two Premium selections for one winner yesterday. We had reached 13 Premium winners in a row before we struck a losing selection. Today we have Racing at Stony Creek, Townsville and Warwick Farm. Stony Creek and Warwick Farm are Heavy tracks and Townsville is Good.
The Spring edition of Horse Racing Australia Magazine is coming together nicely. If you haven't already subscribed why not take advantage of our Basic Subscription Offer which is now only $39.00. Now that is great value. You can order online by clicking here or by calling the office on 02 4950 1747.
Monday 13th July: I don't know why but some people get resentful when other people win. In other cultures winners are celebrated but not in Oz. We are the land of the knockers, the cutters down of the tall poppy. That's why when you win it is best to keep things to yourself. If you skite and tell everyone you are liable to be disliked.
I'm sorta the opposite. I have to tell you when I win and when I lose because why would you follow someone in this game if they are losers? I had those Premiums all up yesterday and I took a third horse to make up a patent bet but my short cuts cost me a really big win. You see I had selected our top rated horse in the last at Grafton as an each way certainty at an expected $10 plus. The smart move would have been to bet at IASbet.com where I could have specified place only for that horse. As it happened it paid over $4.00 the place and I made over $1,000. Had I gone the place only route I would have made $3600+. Then again, had the last horse won it would have been $6,000+ Okay I am happy with the $1,000.
Anyhow, the point is that in these multiples you should always use selections that have as close to a 50% outcome as possible.
Sunday 12th July: We did it. We have reached ten Premium winners in a row. Two today, the first qualified under Rule K according to David Bendeich and the second qualified under more than one rule. Our staff punters Club is back in front too.
Best Bets was a winning day, as was Grandslam.
We had a dissatisfied customer today. We had an offer for one day only about two weeks ago and so we said basically that the offer was no longer valid. Fair enough? But we did better than that. We offered Chris a $890 bonus in return for a 12 month Subscription. Talk about spit the dummy! Here's his reply email: "Please cancel my subscription to Winform Magazine or pass whatever time I have remaining to one of the pensioners who might struggle a little more to pay for it. I've also unsubscribed from the Newsletter and any future emails." The irony is that if he had taken up our offer yesterday he would already have most of his money back after the very first day. Talk about cut off your nose to spite your face.
Luckily I have become a bit more thick skinned these days and don't let such correspondence worry me. Now we have yet another two winners. Is that 12 in a row? One client has already emailed me to say he didn't take the all up today as he felt that given our winning run, yet another success was unlikely. Well take 'em while they are there because we will have a similar losing run one day and we will wonder, as we are now "When will it end?" If you haven't bought into this yet you better do it soon as there are only a few books left after Friday.
Saturday 11th July: We'll know by lunchtime whether we have extended our Premium winning streak to nine and by 2.30pm it may even reach ten. I would love to find a third bet today so I can have a patent with IASbet.com. But maybe I should just be patient?
The first eligible C Plan race yesterday was a winner and in between rain showers I had a play laying horses on Betfair. I didn't have any problem laying horses that were rated at the bottom by Winform and at a layable price up to $10. I also did some trading betting horses that were over the odds and then laying them back if the price moved in. This was O.K. until I had an internet drop out just as I was placing a bet and didn't get on. I couldn't phone because Ros had just taken a phone call. That cost me $150. Lesson learned. Turn the house phone off when betting.
Of course if Telstra would fix the problem? Now there's a thousand to one shot!
The new Toowoomba Cushion track opens today. It willl be about six months at least before we can consider the form in any way reliable.
Friday 10th July: I had to head home early yesterday. Troubles with the landscaping and I will have to stay home today to keep an eye on things. Luckily it looks like no Premium bets today. Yesterday Newsalert won at Grafton. It has now been the Winform top rated horse twice in its last three starts and won both times.
It looked like the C Plan had some winners yesterday and there was a top rated horse home at $31+. Not many days when we don't have some luck.
Thursday 9th July: No bets at all today for Powerplay, BUT since last Saturday we have had eight winning Premium Bets in a row after clearing them through the 'Key To Winning Consistently Edition Two Rules'. There are still amazingly, about 15 places left. Cost is $295 for the book plus $595 a quarter for the Premium Selections. David has taken issue with me over last week's post where I suggested running Winform Gold Selections by the rules. He has found no way to improve them so that's that.
Anyhow. People keep ringing me up asking: "How can we win?" The answer is just up above us in the previous paragraph. Of course it's only one way but it does win. Some think it costs too much when actually it is way too little considering what you can win but I have kept prices low so that it is affordable. I'm sorry that I can't tailor it to meet our pensioner member's needs but for you there is Best Bets at $149 a year, less than $3 a week and they win, and there is the Best Australian Horse Racing Systems which also win and the book costs just $149 and we provide a cheap (avg cost $1+) Phone Service Saturdays with the selections already worked out. In spite of that hardly anyone rings.
We must be doing something right though because we have figures proving that over 60% of our Subscribers win long term. That's twenty times as many as the average punter.
Today we can bet on New Zealand and South African races but the NSW and STAB are not betting on Hobart. How ridiculous is that. You can bet with Tote Tasmania though.
Wednesday 8th July: Garry and I had a blast yesterday at the annual Jungle Juice Cup. Getting in and amongst the country crowd and getting the 'heads up' information from the town locals was very exciting. Despite the cold/wet winter weather we managed to get some fantastic interviews with come Club Officials, Jockeys and some from Punters too. Winform will be posting all the photo's this afternoon on Facebook, simply click here to become a fan of Winform to view online. Good luck on the punt today, Prue Hawkins.
Tuesday 7th July 2009: Garry and Prue are heading to Cessnock today for the 29th Annual Jungle Juice Cup. Last year $1.7 Million was turned over on the nine race card where the Albert Stapleford trained gelding Cruzado managed to win the race then hold on after a protest was dismissed. Cruzado has entered again this year along with recent Cessnock Cup winner Carnegie Prince. Cessnock's champion jockey Robert Thompson has won the race seven times, but hasn't been successful since 1994. The track is Slow with the wet weather and anything can happen.
On other race meets, the Pakenham meeting has been transferred to Bairnsdale. For Ratings Subscribers the Ratings have been updated to support this change.
Our Daily Feature Race scored the Quinella at $8.90 yesterday. Our feature for today is the Jungle Juice Cup. If you already subscribe to any of our services, you can add the Daily Feature Race to your subscription for $150 for 12 months. If you would like to subscribe simply call the office on 02 4950 1747 or click here to order online.
Monday 6th July: The landscapers have started work so I better concentrate on winning some big bucks. One Premium special yesterday for one winner. It was a very short price but a collect is a collect sometimes. That one made five in a row so a more patient person betting with Parlay Magic would have a nice result of $9462 in the bank from a $10 unit rolling parlay. I'll do it again starting with the two losing bets on Saturday and see how that looks in todays Winform E-News.
Sunday 5th July: Filling this in Sat night. May be too hungover for tomorrow. Four of our six Premium bets won today and the other two placed. Patience! How many times have I said that? Our staff punters club bets a maximum of $40 a race and today we spent a little extra and took the parlay all ways for $5. We won over $1300.
I didn't go that far. I wish I did. The Parlay would have made me $89,000 for a $100 unit. Some of our clients did take it but maybe not for that much. I ran a rolling treble and as I am about to get a huge bill for landscaping it has come in very handy but the $89k would have suited me better. Greedy bugger aren't I?
Only The Best came good with two winners at best fluc $15 and $3. The unplaced runner was odds on. Weird huh? I'm off to watch the Knights get hammered by the Storm, well that's the way I am betting even though the Knights are my team.
Hey! They do this all again Sunday. Is it too much to expect two good days in a row? It often happens like that so we'll see.
Saturday 4th July: American Independence day today and the Americans can't afford fireworks because of the recession. At least they've agreed to invest the money into keeping public sector jobs going. We may not have to worry. The C Plan just keeps us in business with the first eligible race yesterday a good winner with our two selections running first and second and the result never in doubt.
I reckon we can take the Jackpot Quaddie today with our top five selections in each leg at Flemington. In one leg we have a standout so maybe we can save on our outlay. I placed my Quaddie bet with Tote Tasmania which feeds into the Stab pool. I get reward points just for betting with them. Any extra edge is O.K. with me.
I've decided that from today I will apply the Key to Winning Consistently 2 rules to Winform Gold which is having a lean streak. If it makes a difference I'll let you know in six months or probabaly daily as it happens.
Friday 3rd July: A brilliant day for the C Plan yesterday with five winning races from the first six. Powerplay singles copped a nice $14+ winner too. There were two Premium bets for one winner. We’ve sent a search party out for the other one.
I have an interview today on ABC World news about the AJC prizemoney cuts and why Betfair and the Corporate bookmakers are not to blame. The blame lies squarely at the feet of Racing NSW.
Thursday 2nd July: Powerplay subscribers only had eight races to play with yesterday even though there were six race meetings on. Only three winners came up, way below average but but the prices more than made up for that.
Peter admitted to me that he had lost a couple of 'banks' using Money Factory on the Top Rated horses. He had bet in fourty six races on Sunday for just three winners when he hit the fourty seventh bet at $40+. That made a win of $3500+ to reach a total of $11,500+ since he commmenced the strategy some weeks ago. As suggested, Peter set aside three banks of $2200 for his enterprise. The way winners fall and their quantity on any day are unlimited. Overall though the balance is always maintained with our top horses at 19%+ but averaging better than $5.
Using best of three TABs the percentages against us are so small that we must win with any reasonable staking plan.
Just a personal note. I did get a prize in the 100 million Lotto draw. I had a share in a system and collected $45.60. I don't know why but the thrill of the win hasn't hit me yet.
Wednesday 1st July: The thing about heavy tracks. The winners are still there, they are just distributed more widely. Top Two yesterday was 37% and Top Three 48% and the best winner $25+. The C Plan had no eligible races yesterday. As a rule, the strike rates are down across the board in winter but this is compensated by higher average prices. For the patient, the end results are the same.
Our new team member Kellie, selected the Daily Feature race yesterday and bet our Punter's Club $40 split between the three selections and a Trifecta. We collected $1000 when they finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Good work Kellie. You're geting the swing of it.
Tuesday 30th June: We had a win yesterday with the Best Bets 'if you have to have a bet' selection coming first at $4.90 and $1.60 for the place.
Today we have racing at Echuca, Ipswich and Randwick. All on heavy tracks.
Would you like an end of the year special? You ONLY HAVE TODAY to get it, so here it is. This one is for everyone. Purchase Prue Hawkins' Last Start Winners Guide and get either the Winform Barrier Book or My Favourite Book or Professional Staking and Money Management for FREE.

Monday 29th June: I've got in early. Did you know that our Members won over $180,000 on Saturday? I guess most of that came from Grandslam and the Winform Singles. Sunday there was only one Premium bet which placed. It wasn't much of a win bet for me.
The good news to report is that Powerplay scored the Treble at Cranbourne which paid $2269.80. It was only Friday that we recommended members have a go at the trebles so maybe a few did. If you were hanging out for the C Plan Sunday you were disappointed as there was bugga all action. It is something I have noticed on a few sundays but perhaps it was the weather this time. Can't win if you can't bet.
Sunday 28th June 2209: Only one qualified Premium bet yesterday for one winner at $4+. Grandslam four bets two winners at $4 and $9, Winform Singles seven bets two wins at $7 and $9. No Best Bets but the bet Susannah nominated as her best won at $17! Our Daily Feature race selection Reggie was a winner at $5.30. Only The Best had two bets for a second at $9 which probably should have won. Susannah also selected the Weekend Feature race which had Niwot on top.
Todays Sunshine Coast meeting has been transferred to the Cushion Track.
Saturday 27th June 2009: My son is having health problems again which is a bit of a distraction but we all have distractions of one type or another and we just have to get on with it. My eldest daughter has flu so Ros will go in and help her today and as she says "leave me with the horses". Help. What a day to leave them with me. Several heavy tracks plus a part cushion track.
Yesterday two Premiums for a win at $4.60 with some members getting a very generous $5 from IASbet. I had a nice C Plan win in the last at Townsville with a $7.60 winner. There aren't too many days when one plan or another doesn't find winners even in Winter.
I came across an interesting statistic this week. All bookmkers have records of their punters, in fact all businesses need to know their customers if they are to continue in business. We have found that since Betezy moved to best of three TABS for all Australian gallops meetings including country and provincial 36% of Members who bet there are making a consistent profit. Compare this to the industry average of 3%! Not all of the people who have registered actually subscribe to winform selection services but those that do now only need to beat the game by 2% to finish up in front. Compare this with betting with one TAB -18%, best of two TABS -8.7%. Best of TAB or SP -4%.
Finally. Our first footy bet was a big winner last night as the Bombers didn't need a start.
Friday 26th June 2009: Only six winning races or 35% for Powerplay yesterday and no good prices, which is a surprise, given the track conditions, which usually lead to longshots winning. The first two C Plan races were winners but perhaps I should rename it the Garry Robinson C Plan so it’s not confused with someone else’s inferior model on another popular website.
I watched a bit of the NRL Footy show last night as I wanted to hear what NSW captain Kurt Gidley had to say about the Origin game. Sadly he was given about 30 seconds to speak while they talked over and around him for twenty minutes, fawning over Queensland forward and hit man Michael Crocker who revelled in his infamy after getting involved in a brawl during the game. It’s probably the rudest thing I’ve seen on TV but I bet if NSW had won, it would be completely different. He wasn’t even asked about plotting to win the third game. No wonder I and hundreds of thousands of others have stopped watching.
Racing is on again at Canberra Acton today. We never win at this track which has the same surface as Geelong where they have abandoned racing for the best part of twelve months. Port Macquarie is Heavy. Bairnsdale is only Dead and Townsville is good so far.
Thursday 25th June 2009: Dreams of glory can fade so easily. My son Mathew is in Mark Waugh’s No 3 syndicate which has Harry Kay which ran in the 'Takeover Target Stakes' at Gosford yesterday. Mark Waugh told him the horse could win yesterday’s race. Mat backed it accordingly (to win a few thousand) as did the majority of the other six hundred shareholders which is why it was second favourite on the TAB but $15 with the bookies. They love these syndicate horses. It ran last and everyone is disappointed except the TAB and the bookies. The horse may well have been injured as it was intended he lead. But don’t worry about Mat. He won his money back on the Origin game last night. The point is that owners are generally over optimistic.
On the other hand we had five Premium selections yesterday. Anyone who backed them using the Key to Winning Consistently 2 rules had to finish in front. I took multiples all ways and so ended up just square. Do As I Command raced again and placed again but had it won my collect would have been $8k instead of a modest profit of just $100+. As I have said so many times before, patience is required.
The C Plan had three winners from just five eligible races.
Our Daily Feature Race proved success yesterday with our top rated horse first to the finish with a win dividend of $13.50.
Wednesday 24th June: If you had a bet with Sportsbet last saturday you should check your account. Why? Because bets placed on certain races have been refunded as free bets which can only be used up until midnight tonight. Is it worthwhile? I have $325 worth of these free bets and in each of the nominated races I actually bet two horses. This means I got paid for the winners and got my money back for the losers. Neat Huh!
A reminder also that Iasbet offers you refunds everyday on their second chance specials. We enter these opportunities in our IASbet.com account every day and we check these races for possible bets. Bet say two horses in say the C Plan and you get the possibility of a winner and a refund. That's an edge in your favour which should not be knocked back. Of course if the race simply isn't bettable then stay out.
Today you can bet in the Takeover Target Stakes, a listed race at Gosford and if you horse runs second beaten by up to a neck you get a refund. Think about how many photo finishes you have been in and lost. Tonight if you have a first try scorer bet in State Of Origin and your selected player misses out but scores the second try of the match you get a refund.
How's this. I read somewhere that the Gosford track is not expected to produce a good three surface until October due to the amount of rain. That's scary. Almost as scary as Moonee valley having a heavy track last Saturday when there has been hardly any rain. What's going on?
Below: Matt, my son caught this 1.5m shark yesterday about 200m in front of my place, does anyone know what sort it is?

Tuesday 23rd June: Another two abandoned meetings today plus Muswellbrook has been transferred to Scone which raises an interesting point. I was talking to Trevor Johns last night and in his view last Saturday's decision to transfer the last five races at Randwick to the inner track might have been fair to owners but it was totally unfair to punters. All bets on the Randwick meeting should have been refunded and new betting commenced.
Now today, how many of those horses entered for Muswellbrook were entered because of the horse's preference for that track? Trainers have no optoin but to race because todays race would have been programmed in to their preparation. We as punters who bet yesterday for whatever reason, should have our money refunded so we can make a decision today. A good example is our Winform ratings. We do well at Muswellbrook but poorly at Scone but then on the other hand we have one bet today at Scone which would not have been a bet if the meeting took place at Muswellbrook.
I'm doing a full article on this and other issues in the next magazine. If you can think of any similar or related issues I would love to hear from you. Email me at garry.r@hunterlink.net.au
Monday 22nd June: The C Plan jumped out of the blocks yesterday with three wins out of three, quickly recouping the loss from Saturday. Two Premium qualified bets yesterday but both lost, one running second but paying $1.90 for the place. A win would have been magic.
David Toulson's Soccer tips are magic with yet another winner at the weekend. That makes, I think, six straight. The Best Bets recorded ten winners from eleven bets and currently twelve from fifteen. Ah for such knowledge in advance. What a fortune could be made.
Sunday 21st June: I had a go at most of the Super Saturday offers yesterday. With the main offer, a 20% bonus on winnings at Moonee Valley, it really caught me up as I simply failed to get the winners. I also missed the Quaddie but I did get a $50 rebate and I did save on Davcon which was $2 and I did have the second horse which would have really boosted the $1,000 Quaddie. On Win prices the Quaddie should have paid $800 but with the jackpot it paid $1,000. I did have a dutch bet on our Top Two in the last and this gave me In The Shadows at $10+. It was a Winform Single but because it's last start was out of town it didn't qualify as Grandslam or Only The Best.
We had four Winform Gold bets yesterday for two wins and a second and there was one Premium qualified bet which raced on the bog at Randwick and finished third. I coupled these up all ways and collected two small doubles for one big loss but another day all five will win and I will collect big time.
I hate it when good footy teams play badly. I don't follow the Swans so much or Collingwood but I thought I was in for a good game. The tactics of the Swans in the first half gave them no chance whatsoever of winning. I turned off. It was like watching a horse that is a natural leader being ridden from behind or vice versa. It's never going to happen. The C Plan had only a 33% strike rate yesterday with few opportunities due to the wet tracks.
Saturday 20th June: Missed witha couple of C Plan races yesterday but the best one, and you didn't know to bet until late, was the last at Orange. There were no Best Bets yesterday but Susannah nominated Ima Joker as her Bet for the day. It won and started at $4.00 but the TAB was dreadful at just $2.60. It pays to look at the fixed price market doesn't it?
Ortensia is scratched today and blows my First Four jackpot strategy leaving Absolut Glam on top but in a very wide betting market so I may hang off. St Minerva gets a run but comes back from 2200 metres. I am taking the Moonee Valley Quaddie today with our top five leaving out the favourite Davcon in race 7 but betting wider. If davcon did win it would decimate the dividend but that's a risk I am prepared to take. If I do get the first two legs I may save my stake on this horse.
I am also taking as many of the Sportsbet Super Saturday offers as I can. There's 10% reabte on losses at Randwick but I have only one bet there but 20% bonus on winnings at the Valley and I have a few good bets there which is surprising given the unusual heavy track rating on this well drained Strathayr surface. Good luck.
Friday 19th June: Another quiet day today with Grafton abandoned. Betezy are busy reprogramming their system today so anyone who takes up the current offer is credited promptly. This weeks bonuses will be done manually early next week and then all should be in order next week and done automatically.
Tim asked me about the A B and C Plans but I explained that I was actually too busy to watch the races yesterday. It got me thinking though and I spotted two C Plan races and a B plan race between 3 and 4 p.m. yesterday. All three were winning races and I made a handy profit on those I bet. Tim got a couple of answers and I got a couple of hundred and I finished the work I was doing for the next Magazine right on time.
Today I am tied up doing tax work for end of year but I have placed my few bets from Trevor John’s chapter six.
Thursday 18th June: Last month was not a good month for our Powerplay Strategies but PP1 and PP2 selections which won paid $5.97 on average. We advise leaving out selections at more than $21 and here is why.
In may there were 92 runners at this price for just one winner and a loss of over 60 units or $600 for evey $10 bet.
For the selections designated Powerplay we do the reverse, leaving out any selection at less than $4 and here is why.
In May, those short priced selections did supply many winners BUT the loss on these was nearly 13%. The remainder of the selections were nearly square but of course the way we bet them that doesn't matter as long as the average dividend is high enough to clear Powerbet.
Regarding the Betezy offer. We realise that many Members no longer bet with Betezy for various reasons. Most of those reasons no longer exist. Their software is a lot faster, telephone service is always good and their prices are now better than anyone on country and provincial races.
Over two thirds of the acccounts are inactive even though over two hundred of these actually have money sitting in those accounts. Those account holders should be aware that if they don't use that money the Government claims it. My advice is to at least check it out.
Wednesday 17th June: Today they race for the first time at Morphettville Parks. It is the new Adelaide circuit and the distances are different. We have a link to the new course layout here. We have asked but have not been told, what the new grass surface is. It may be the same as the exisiting outer circuit or like the Randwick inner circuit it may be Strathayr. Either way we will need to see hundreds of races run before we know how times and barriers should be treated. In the meantime we are using Winform default settings.
My daughter has just returned from New Guinea where she stayed at a highland mission. Last night we had to get the ambulance because she was hallucinating, dehydrated and generally extremely ill. Maybe she picked up a bad bug. She is having blood tests this morning so it is one of those days when family circumstances dominate.
Good luck today. P.S. There was a $30+ chapter six winner yesterday for Trevor Johns. That book is worth its weight in gold!
Tuesday 16th June: Firstly, I must apologise for not sending out the Winform E-News yesterday which was to contain the bookmaker offer referred to in last weeks diary. We are having trouble with our email server and will get it out to you as soon as possible.
Yesterday was a very quiet day. C Plan followers must be wondering “when is my next bet” as there have only been a handful of possible eligible races over the past few days. Powerplay covered just one meeting yesterday for just two winners.
Tomorrow I am having a meeting with our Footy writer David Toulson who lives about five hours drive away. We meet in person maybe once or twice a year. Tomorrow I am going to have to ask him how he came up with his weekend Sports Tip winner in the Moscow soccer league. He’ll probably tell me about all the hard work he puts in on behalf of the Members. I’ll probably have to shout him a beer. Come to think of it, I might have one too.
I did do a Money Factory workout for the Premium selections yesterday with rules for January until now. The profit on turnover was nearly 13%, and remember we are using TAB prices and no doubt betting the better of TAB or SP would have produced a better result. Using a $10,000 Bank which was barely used because of the high strike rate, there was a profit of just under $6,000. Our base bets were just $50 and I think the largest bet placed was around $500. The average was only $100.
Monday 15th June: In the latest edition of Horse Racing Australia Magazine I have written an article about Arthur Upfield, author of The Great Melbourne Cup Mystery. Last night I watched a new movie which was a biography of Arthur Upfields life in the Australian bush before his first book was published. Life is full of coincidences.
Here's another one. A few weeks ago I had to bet $360 in my Money Factory sequence on Nob Hill. It showed incredible pace until running off at the turn and finishing down the track at $30+. Yesterday that horse was a Powerplay Selecton and was having its first run since then. It won at $93 but no I wasn't on it. I was working in the yard until the second race at that venue. I was on a Trevor Johns Chapter Six horse though, Marcheval which paid $40+ and Powerplay did find most of the winners at Kalgoorlie.
One Premium Special yesterday which ran unplaced. Since January our Premium selections have struck at 43% at $2.33 average (TAB) but using the 'Key To Winning Consistently Edition Two' Rules lifted the strike rate 10% without affecting the dividend. This seemingly minor adjustment lifted net profit by over one thousand per cent. The specials that were elimintaed still won 38% of their races. The point is that it is the little things that count. Worst losing run without Rules 9, with Rules,7. longest run of winners wihout Rules 6, with Rules 7 and twice.
Is Winform Premium a good deal? Make up your own mind.
Sunday 14th June: Three Premium qualifiers yesterday for two wins and a third. I spent $1400 to get $24.50 profit but the third horse wins and that becomes $4,000 profit. It's a fine line. Betting just single bets a fabulous profit for the week on these. As I've said before. I've chosen to bet the multiples and that works for me as I've learnt to weather the storm.
Our Daily Feature Race found the winner. Our Lukas was top rated for the Ipswich Cup. Grandslam was a little unlucky with one runner finishing second at $3.90 the place. A win would have been nice.
Saturday 13th June: The competition has finished and thanks to those who entered. I closed the entries at 27 and as it turned out there were 14 Heads and 13 Tails. On a $100 bet that would be $100 profit but using Money Factory with a basic bet of $50 the profit was $205. I rest my case. Four Members won $50 gift vouchers. Now even if the dividend was say $1.91, the odds available on footy line bets, there would still have been a profit rather than a level stakes loss.
St Kilda let us down last night, giving up a 30 point lead to win by less than the 17.5 line we recommended. That said, it was a fantastic match and it showed the fighting qualities of both teams. Yesterday two Premiums again and one winner at $2.60 for a level stakes profit again. It really is the easiest way of making money that we have for busy punters. It just takes 10-15 minutes to run through the 'The Key To Winning Consistently Edition Two' Rules. Can you find just 10-15 minutes a day?
It was suggested to me yesterday that If I supplied the final selections to 20 people who were each prepared to bet $500 and give up 50% of their profit both parties would be happy. The problem as I explained is that punters on average would pull out of the deal as soon as there was a losing run so that in the end I would be working for nothing. No I make about $60-$70k per year on these selections and never wagering more than $200 units and that suits me fine. Yes I have been as much as $10k behind at times as I bet Singles, Doubles and Trebles and that could involve 49 units bet if just 3 selections per day for a week and all lost but I have won 30k in a week so who's complaining?
Only Belmont is a possibility of a Good track today so once again I will stick to the Premiums and hope today they all win.
Friday 12th June: Today I start with a joke because that’s what the decision about tonights NRL match in Brisbane is. Swine Flu hasn’t turned out as bad as thought but if you’re going to stop it you have to stop it. No arguments. My sister has just gone to Mexico by the way. Couldn’t dissuade her. My daughter and son in law are in New Guinea at a highland mission. My Dad was there in the war and he picked up a bug there that stayed with him for years. Anyhow here’s the joke.
While looking at a house, my brother asked the
estate agent which direction was north because
he didn't want the sun waking him up every morning.
She asked, 'Does the sun rise in the north?'
My brother explained that the sun rises in the east
and has for sometime. She shook her head and said,
'Oh, I don't keep up with all that stuff....'
Two Premiums again yesterday for one winner. We seem to be sticking to around the 50% mark. I just want another run of winners. I’ve recommended to a couple of clients that they use Parlay Magic to run rolling parlays on these. It’s a good tactic if you can do it.
For the next Magazine I want to run an article proving that the Money Factory Staking works. To prove it I could use a simple coin toss but instead I am asking you to participate by sending me emails today. Title the email “Heads” or “Tails”, you choose at random. As the emails come in I will add them to the Staking Plan. Each time the Staking Plan goes into profit the person who sent that email will receive a $50 Gift Voucher. If at the end of today I am not yet showing a profit overall I will ask you to play again tomorrow. Email me at garry.r@hunterlink.net.au
Thursday 11th June: Yesterday two Premium qualifiers for a first and a second. We had a massive response to yesterday's item, enough for me to proceed with negotiations. Many respondents correctly pointed out that the deal is "worth" 1.5% on turnover which might seem trivial to some but a massive breakthrough to others. No it is not a good idea to close your other accounts and put it all in this one place. You still need to keep your options open and yes it is intended that the deal will be repeatable.
When I have struck a deal I will email all our current Members so if you are currently getting our weekly emails you will get the offer. If you believe you are not getting our regular emails click the banner on the top right Winform E-News.
We noted that the The Key To Winning Consistently Edition Two Money Factory is a breath away from reaching a new profit level and that the Unitab selections from The Key To Winning Consistently Edition Two have come back recently with ten winners from the past sixteen bets.
Wednesday 10th June: Today I need feedback, so before we email all members I am starting with the regular readers of this column. We have been asked to take part in an interesting trial by a major corporate player. It will be for Winform Members only at first and here's the deal and importantly it applies to existing account holders.
Step one: Deposit funds. Step Two: bet as normal. Step Three: A percentage of your turnover will be deposited to your account each week until you have had a total bonus of 15%. If you lose your money (as we all do from time to time) simply top up your account and the process starts again based on your new deposit. The loyalty bonus stops when you make a withdrawal so it is in your interests to keep going until you have earned your bonus. It is truly about customer retention and giving existing clients the best deal possible.
The details are yet to be fully ironed out and that is why we need feedback. It will depend on how many responses we receive and then all will be revealed to those who start up front. Those clients will be guaranteed, as well as the bonus, best of three TABs on all galloping whether city or country and unlimited payouts and dividends e.g. if the best TAB is $200 then that is what you get even if the "normal" rules say otherwise. The only exception is in the case of someone deliberately manipulating the Tab pool as has happened from time to time.
Okay. Time to step up. email me garry.r@hunterlink.net.au P.S. you will still be able to bet fixed prices where available and I haven't asked but assume best fluc as well. At the end of the week I will resume my talks so we can all start. To my mind it is almost a guaranteed profit. If I don't get a sufficient response they will probably approach someone else and our Winform Members will miss out. I am impressed that we have been asked first.
Yesterday our Daily Feature Race was a success with our top rated horse first to the finish with a win price of $5.40 in Gosford Race 3. We also had two Premium selections for two places.
Please remember to notify us if you have moved addresses or have new contact details such as email or phone numbers.

We are also interested in any feedback you may have regarding the magazine so please send your thoughts to PO BOX 375 Wallsend NSW 2287 OR email us by clicking HERE.
Tuesday 9th June: No Best Bet yesterday but we always have to put something up. I used a Winform Single, Eau De Joie. It won and its credentials were obvious. I had it all up each way the next single selection Attapathh which ran 2nd at a good price. This mare had missed the start badly at Sandown and had placed at the Valley last preparation at the distance.
From 23/5 to 7/6 there have been 7 Best Bets for 7 winners and over $15 in dividends. The first two C Plan races won. No need to go on. We recieved an email from Tom:
Hi Garry, Stayed home specifically for Kalgoorlie today knowing Winform does so well there, and a good track must help.
So far two C Plan winners which is great: Race 1 Twin City Gambler (won), Race 3 ( Not C Plan qualified as 1200m)
Caribbean Cruise (won) and Race 4 Power Torque (won). Thanks, Tom.
My son is in the Mark Waugh syndicate and tomorrow Harry Kay runs for the second time in a year. He looked like being a good horse before his injury. Sometimes they come back but today I have him rated ninth. Only two race meetings and both rain affected.
Apologies for race times being out of sync over the weekend. We had some issues with our computers and the clocks reset themselves back to zero. The problem hasnow been fixed.
Monday 8th June: Our Best Bet won yesterday at what I thought was a good price. The one Premium qualifier ran 3rd. One other runner needed one more rating point to qualify I thought but David Bendeich put it up as a selection. It ran 2nd. I spent my day with my Dad who has recently recovered from flu. Not nice in your mid 80's along with your other ailments and the home he is in has had restricted visitation. My sister has just left for a holiday in...wait for it...Mexico.
The Knights let us down making an unsuccessful treble play and a losing weekend for the sports bets.
Ballina is abandoned today and Townsville has the only good track rating. There are large numbers of scratchings elsewhere. For Saturday subscribers I have put up the ratings on the Saturday page.
Sunday 7th June: Three abandoned meetings today so not much action. Punters are none the wiser but I am guessing that todays Sunshine Coast meeting is switched to the Cushion track so our distances may be slightly wrong. The weekend sportsbets are half right so far with just one match to go today. All of our services had a tough day again yesterday with the weather not helping. I took a punt on the Stradbroke being won by along shot or at least a longshot in the placings. I was wrong and although I scored the Trifecta it was a losing play.
With so few meetings today it is hard to imagine a great result but Kalgoorlie has thrown up some good winners at times.
Saturday 6th June: A good track at Flemington and possibly Belmont. The rest a mud heap. Good luck but maybe we can still win. Only The Best has a much larger selection list than normal today. I haven't seen this many before so let's hope for some good winners.
One qualified Premium yesterday for a loss. It had to happen. There are a lot of Premiums today but most don't meet the 'Key to Winning Consistently Two' Rules. I hope I am not throwing out any good winners. We had a $69.70 winner at Grafton yesterday Top Rated. I wasn't on it as I took a rare day off. Powerplay found nearly every winner at Ipswich yesterday but the prices were poor. The other venues didn't meet the criteria. Good luck today.
Friday 5th June: It's a lovely sunny day up here today which may signal the start of the end of the big wet. My new house is getting there after a two year journey and after Ros, my wife, fired a big rocket up the builder on Wednesday. She's still recovering from the emotional blast. One Premium bet yesterday for a third on a seriously heavy track.
Trevor Johns chapter six had just one runner yesterday but it won at a big price. I missed it and I'm still kicking myself. No C Plan races yesterday. Actually, the C Plan is not the only plan in my book Race Winning Strategies. It only occupies pages 16,17 and 18 of the 100 page book, although there are some well explained examples in the latter pages.
The Sportsbet takeover of IASbet.com has been announced but it is subject to voting by shareholders and won't be decided until October. I wont be voting in favour but that's a personal financial decision. In the end it will be the votes of the Read family that will decide the issue.
I have just finished putting the Powerplay Singles through the grinder for May and there was a profit of 4.7% level stakes but Money Factory was a loss due to where the winners fell and a particularly bad run of outs early on in May. With best of three totes available now on Country and Provincial racing, it will be a lot easier to make a profit.
Thursday 4th June: IASbet may be taken over by Sportsbet which is now owned by UK betting giant Paddy Power. The offer is for 60 cents which in our opinion undervalues IASbet, however the Board has recommended the offer to shareholders. As we understand it, IASbet will continue as usual even if the takeover is successful. Account holders need not worry. IASbet is still the fairest corporate bookmaker on the market.
In the meantime the first three eligible C Plan races were successful yesterday and there was just one Premium qualified bet under David Bendeich’s rules and it won. We are having another good run. We have very few copies of The Key To Winning Consistently Edition Two left at $295 and basically we are only selling these with a subscription to our Premium service. Premium subscribers that use the rules are well in front for the year. Call me directly (02) 4950 1747 if you wish to discuss.
Wednesday 3rd June: We have received some feedback about a Betfair program. The details are in the Your Feedback section of our website. CLICK HERE
Just one Premium bet yesterday and it was a three length winner but at short odds. You can't beat winning. We now have a sequence which reads W L W W W. We are continuing with our Only The Best promotion and you can only participate by calling the offfice on 02 4950 1747. Basically you get our restricted Saturday service with a small number of bets which over the past five years have a strike rate of 30% and dividends around $4. It cost $495 for one year but at present you get 101% cash back in your Vicbet betting account. If you don't have one they are easy to set up or we can do it for you. Vicbet is betting on all meetings today inclduing New Zealand.
State Of Origin is on tonight and with a brand new team NSW is the rank outsider at $2.50. Logically they have no chance but sometimes the enthusiasm of the new players is enough to turn the tables on the more established and settled Queensland lineup. It will be a good game.
I have had a lot of queries lately about the C Plan. In my book Race Winning Strategies I have out down my own persoanl betting experience for a week of C Plan action. For the week I found 49 eleigible races and 27 of these were winning races. Betting all of these at $100 per race produced over $1,000 profit. For the week I didn't do that, Instead I bet each day until I had made $100 plus. On the first day there were two losing races and I lost $200. I made a profit on each of the other six days and ended up winning $533 for the week. Had I skipped the first day when there was only one race meeting on, it would have been a better result. So there you can see what I mean when I say you could win $500 to $1,000 a week.
Tuesday 2nd June: Our Premium bet at Northam only won by 5 or 6 lengths yesterday. Of more interest was our Powerplay single yesterday which held on to pay $18.30.
At Wagga yesterday Powerplay found the winners of the first five races with four successive Running Doubles paying $100.80, $332.20, $309.30 and $118.80. The maximum outlay for any one Double was just $16. TAB Doubles frequently pay a lot more than they should which is why none of the corporates offer them. They would go broke over night because the advantage is in the punter's favour.
The feedback we are getting is that a lot of people are starting to buy into IASbet shares as the price has fallen slightly but they still feel that another takeover offer is in the wind. The Read family still holds about 30% and Sportsbet 19.9% with Winform Members holding collectively about 8%. I noted that Centrebet which recently had a profit downgrade has been recommended as a buy in the financial pages of the Sun Herald. They feel that gambling shares are a refuge in recessional times. I reserve my opinion on that but I am holding onto my IASbet stake and my shares in the TABs.
Monday 1st June: Prue is on a 3 day break so Garry and I will be busy in the office taking any enquiries and orders from clients until Prue is back on Thursday when Kellie, our new Membership person starts.
Looks like we have a good bet today at Northam, so we'll see how we go. Your latest Winform Newsletter was posted out on Friday afternoon so expect to recieve it in your letter box within the week. Make sure you check your envelope to see if you are a lucky prize winner and to take advantage of the Sportsbet giveaway.
The latest Horse Racing Australia Magazine is in newsagents from today but why not take up a 12 month subscription for just $39.00. CLICK HERE to order online or call the office on 02 4950 1747. Have a great day, Susannah.
Here's extra from James Day for the information of Members.
Hi again Garry,
Thanks for your reply. I have some important news- Unitab are now fielding fixed price markets on most Australian races.
That even includes country and provincial WA etc! The prices are online~ 11 minutes before each specific race. For metro racedays prices are available early for all races as far as I can tell. Also markets are there on 131 935 ( Sports ) line. You can bet eachway, which is fantastic for longer priced horses- often the place dividend is better that way.Minimum bet is $5 and increments are $1.This has only just started happening.E.G. I had Astro Gains e/w and got $5.88 place.By the way I thought you'd like to know how NZ horses using chapter six go. 50 units profit just the other night.I also use them in the UK with success. The quinella option on Iasbet has the info needed just before first NZ race covered and there is plenty of free UK info to get what you need (trainer and rider).
Sunday 31st May: I suspected yesterday would not be a good day given the track conditions. Today there is some hope and Kalgoorlie is due to produce. Prix Du Sang got too far back but still ran a good race, however nothing made ground on our third rated horse Purple.
Would you trust information from someone who doesn't punt themselves? Some of Australia's best known ratings and selection suppliers don't bet which means they have never felt the pain of a losing streak or the elation of a winning one. I can sssure you I know both.
I test out new betting methods with real money and twice in the past year or so I have been on losing streaks of over $30k simply trying out these new methods but equally I have been on winning streaks. Sometimes these winning and losing streaks can take place over a few days, sometimes five or six weeks or even months. Nothing hurts more than when I have had a winning streak and recommended my method to clients only to see an unexpected collapse. These are out of anyone's control but they happen in equal measure.
While all this is going on, the tried and true methods continue to round up winnings. Yale tells me that since Christmas his C Plan betting has only struck at 48% winning races instead of the more usual 50%+ It still wins and wins well. It's just more fun at the higher strike rate. Yesterday with all the heavy and near heavy tracks I didn't even look. Today I might.
Saturday 30th May: Not a lot of bets today. I am watching footy instead I expect the Western Bulldogs to win by much more than the 7.5 start I am giving away. I have backed the two Premium bets plus our Oaks bet. Just hope she doesn't get too far back as she is drawn very wide. The track conditions are very variable today too.
All up, unless we get better track conditions tomorrow it could be a boring weekend.
Friday 29th May: I didn't realise that my son's horse (he has a share in the Mark Waugh syndicate) won yesterday. It was also our second rated horse in the race and paid $8.30 best tote. I was at the Betfair Seminar where about 40 punters turned up. The same seminar I attended in Sydney two years ago only had about 6. As in Sydney, many of the attendees were winform Members.
Unfortunately the presenter was handicapped by no internet available and no one to assist him (very poor planning on Betfair's behalf) and a lack of presentation skills. I did notice that many of the punters were old school i.e. they still thought in terms of 6/4, 7/4 etc. I always thought that I lacked "smoothness" in my presentations but I now think that I understand punters better which is why my presentations were always well received. I also had excellent support from my various assistants.
Will is a young man (compared to me) who is very well presented but when his wireless Internet connection failed he had no answers. He should have had a back up cable access or someone to organise it for him. In Sydney, everyone had their own computer and a real Betfair account with real money so we could follow the examples and bet in real time. It's the best way to do it.
He claimed that Betfair has 60,000 registered accounts in Australia with 15,000 betting each month. That figure surprises me. he also hinted that you are better off using a "bot" to navigate the site and place bets and I agree with that, The Betfair site seems to me to be going slower and slower. Some of the punters in the room told me that they only used the Phone Service and refused to use their website.
One good thing about the seminar. You got lunch and a free hat and a very good book which fills in all the gaps about betting on Betfair.
The C Plan yesterday was virtually non existent. You get days like that.

Wednesday 27th May: The Top Two found some winners as it always does but yesterdays programs were not great. We couldn't find a single race to nominate as our Feature. Today is different. With postponed meetings Rod Cleary from Vicbet tells me we have eight meetings to bet on. Almost as busy as Saturday or Sunday. Depending on weather it could be a fun day.
Tim dropped into our office yesterday on his way home to Queensland. Anyone is welcome to drop in, even just to say hello or ask any queries. We'll even shout you a cuppa. Anyhow, I was able to clarify a few things for Tim and he is ready to kick off with the C Plan when he gets home.
Susannah has been off sick for a few days and we are way behind but the Newsletters will be arriving next week along with our $250,000 Sportsbet giveaway. We're only a relatively small business and we rely on our sponsors to be able to make such great promotions.
We also had contact with a number of the corporates yesterday and we may be dropping some of them as the products offered change. SportsAlive are offering best of three totes all gallops including country and provincial but limited depending on the Stab price. Centreracing.com was offering best of three but has dropped this, however they are the only ones offering concession betting and First Four as some othet agencies have dropped this.
We'll do our best to keep up to date and keep you informed as to your best options. |
