Autumn Edition | Last Updated for: Monday 31st May, 2010
Monday 31st May: It's the last day of a disappointing month. Sunday was a disaster with four qualifying Premiums going down without a yelp. Two were placed so I guess that's something. The top three was depressing but luckily for me I was in Sydney and only copped a three grand loss on the Premiums, mainly all ups. When I get these up I collect $10k plus so I still make a profit but it is hard to take regardless.
The weekend sportsbets were one from two so a slight loss. On a brighter note Lisle from SA sent this email yesterday morning.
“Hi Gary,Been a while since I spoke to you. I have been a follower of powerbet for a long time. I bet whenever my work commitments allow, usually Saturdays and Sundays. Using a $10 base bet I quit $811 ahead yesterday after the 7th at Morphettville. I can only bet occasionally on the weekends. I am planning on going full time in the next six months sometime. My figures show that using a $10 base bet and quitting for the day when a good profit has been made I would be about $1200 a week ahead over the last 3 months. Have you got any figures going back the last 12 months on profit using the new strategy?.
Regards,
Lisle“
Sunday 30th May: You may remember Brenton was running some banks for me and all winnings were rolled forward to see how far we could go. The experiment has failed. The last bank we were prepared to risk went south the race before we would have cleared the Bank and gone on to another six completions uop to Randwick Race 8.
Starting fresh, the $20 base bet made $1769 quitting after the last at Randwick. To be honest once I started betting I watched the losing runs then came in and made a quick $1,000 and quit myself.
The Premium bets had one win at $4 and two places. I wish I had a place all up. Neither of the Feature races got a result. Australia wide it was probably one of the wettest days we have seen. Our race strike rate ended up 37%, a little above average and dividend at $7.16 well above.
Saturday 29th May: Two punters yesterday. Same selections but different result. Richard got a better price about the Casino Cup winner but ended his series the race before. Another didn't bet that horse because it wouldn't fit the percentage but had a winning day with his current series needing a winner in the first or second eligible race of today. Had he secured $13 about Mystery Vibe his series would have ended in triumph. Anyone who is having doubts shoule simply re-read The Confettii Principle as outlined in Make Racing Pay More with Powerbet.
The weather today at Doomben is disappointing and it will make the outcomes different. We'll see. Yesterday we scored the Quinella, Trifecta, Exacta and the First Four ($2990 NSWTAB) in the Daily Feature Race.
Friday 28th May Updated: I’ve already got a few emails querying how Greg D made his money. Obviously he is using a bigger base bet to start with. Good on him for having the confidence. He also does it his way and so do many others. Allen has missed some good winners because he won’t bet in a race where other horses are certain prices in the market, well that is his research and if it works, good on him.
John has somehow managed to eliminate a lot of races and he is left with a higher strike rate and overall profit. That is the result of his research. He admits "it is early days but I will keep it up and let you know."
I'm expecting another good day today. Our Powerbetters all made profits yesterday and the one Premium bet won at $2.40. I also got this email.
”Hi again Garry, Just a quick note to let you know how happy I am with your Powerbet program. (Doug finally purchased early this month).
I just stopped betting $500 up for the day again. I started Powerbet Monday last week, and have had one losing day ($14 down!), and have stopped betting a couple of days once I have got to $500 up (would have won more if I kept going, but don’t want to get too greedy).
Since starting, I am $4999.94 in front over 11 days!! (should have kept betting today to win that extra $0.06 to reach $5000, hey?). Average div has been $6.58, and a ROI of 16.7%. Thanks again for the program, and the advice. Regards,
Greg D.....”
Greg has seen the benefits of quitting when in front. Hope it keeps up. Andrew bets when he can but he has been using Powerbet for many years. His Dad is his betting partner and he bets Monday to Friday only, but bets all races including WA to the death (he woulda loved it last night at Northam) and quits on Friday when he is in front for that day. He hasn’t had a losing week since switching to the new strategy.
Ros is currently doing up our unit at Rafferty’s Resort and what better way to celebrate the horse's birthday (August 1st) than with a Money Factory and Powerbet Seminar at 1.p.m. Numbers are limited to just eight at a cost of $595 per person with $300 of that money being refunded against an annual subscription to the Ratings or the Powerbet or Money Factory programs.
Rather than use a data projector we are using an 80cm monitor for clarity. Email me: Garry Robinson garry.r@hunterlink.net.au, if you wish to book. Accommodation is available at the resort if needed.
Thursday 27th May: Tough day with possibly four C Plan races for two wins. Thinkin’ ‘bout yesterday, the Top Three at Sandown Hillside, Murray Bridge and small fields at Canterbury suggest we might have been best restricting our betting to Belmont and Ipswich, although that wouldn't have found us many winners either. One Member suggested Wednesdays are either very good or very bad and he might be right.
Greg Horn is hard at work punting with Powerbet as well as his own strategies. His figures suggest that perhaps you can bet the strategy with no race restrictions. The main restriction he is looking at applying is the 100% rule. I will stick to what I know works, but there is merit in his approach. I think as long as you don't go past the third horse, perhaps it would be O.K. The $21 rule stays though.
Two Premium bets yesterday for a first and a second. That's all I had time to bet. Mat has just finished his third week on trial for a permanent job. If he is still there when he gets his licence back in January I can stop getting up so early. Mind you I get more work done this time in the morning.
Wednesday 26th May: We're anticipating that the Canterbury track wil be heavy. A good winning day yesterday although we missed our Winform Gold who decided to take the short cut and jumped the fence. Wonder why they scratched it? No problems making a steady profit yesterday. Regular Aussie was protested against but held the race. Those who bet it with Iasbet need not have worried as they would have been paid even if it lost the protest as long as they had registered by putting Protest in the promotional code area of the My Account section.
There was no value in the C Plan for the first race at Echucha. Race 9 was the only other eligible race and was a retrun worth waiting for.
Tuesday 25th May:I accidentally opened the diary from May last year. It was interesting. We were focused on the Premium selections, as we are now, and the C Plan which still continues as a profitable plan.
A wonderful day for Powerbet yesterday, with one Member reporting a $239 profit from base bets of just $5. There weren't too many races and the early winners we got were no value being $2 to $4 mainly. We missed one good winner because it was a Fillies and Mares race and we noticed that the 2yos have been winning well lately too. The information I used to refuse these was based on eleven years of date and there are always good and bad periods in those.
Several of the Members I sopke to yesterday do the same thing. They quit when well ahead and they nearly all accept the day’s losses if any and don't carry over. This does lead to very high win strike rates but can be frustrating. If quitting just 10% ahead, then one losing day takes ten winning days to get square. If betting when say 30% ahead, it will take a lot fewer winning days to catch up. Each person will have their own ideas and only when you put them into practice, will you be able to decide what's right for you.
Only three race meetings today: Randwick, Echucha and Townsville.
Monday 24th May: Not a lot extra to say but I did like this email.
‘Hi Garry
Just a quick note to say that I was on Virvacity (20.30) on the Steeple at Pakenham. I have found that these types of races sometimes come up with winners like this. I always put them in my Powerbet line, especially when there appears to be a query on the favourite and it is not in the top three. Naughty boy aren't I?
Regards
Ken Henderson’
I never bet the jumps races as our computer program can't handle them because of the extreme distances being outside our normal parameters.
Sunday 23rd May:Update The winners all came back today including several double figure winners. The averages always hold up. How many of you felt so bad about Saturday that you gave it away today? That's not to say you should be betting today if you never intended to.
With a 22% race strike rate there is no way you could have made a profit yesterday. Brenton found a few winners but closed out with a series loss at -$476. The month of May though is showing a nice profit.
Premium had three eligible bets for two wins and a second. A good result for me as I took a $100 Patent. Grandslam came good with a $14+ winner so it was not a total wipeout. We missed both Feature Races.
Saturday 22nd May: The Winform Daily Mail opeated on just three races yesterday for a win at $22 and the Quinella in Ipswich Race 2, The winner in Ipswich Race 6 and 2nd and 3rd in the Mt Gambier Cup (not good enough). Those of you who started this week should be reasonably happy.
What a day for Powerbet yesterday! Zooqualo was $2.50 and Rock Da House $9 so at 51% a definite bet. Zooqualo was then backed in to $2 but Rock Da House held him off for a great win. I coninued betting for the day and scrarped a win in with the last bets of the series on Ipswich Race 8. Even that $10 winner did not clear the series but the last race win at Mount Gambier did for +$891.90 . Now there was a problem at Muswellbrook when the course was hit by a storm. I had already placed my bets so estimted my next set of bets then deleted Muswellbrook when the abandonement was confirmed. Had the race gone ahead I would have A.) Got heaps of extar cash or B.) Lost and gone over the series limit. A decison had to be made and luckily I made the right one. Race Strike Rate was 41%.
We have assued both Doomben and Morphettville will be upgraded today to Good. They are both close enough now.
Friday 21st May: Greg (not Greg Horn) has advised that using a $20 base bet he has made $2326 so far this week. He is using Powebet with Trakform ratings which are in the GTX program.
The current deal is: the GTX Program with both Trakform and Winform Ratings for three months for $1249. Money back guarantee if you don’t like it in the first ten days. No one has ever asked for their money back!
Imagine running both Winform and Trakform in separate Powerbet accounts. You could be making double the money.
Yesterday many users stuffed up. At Toowoomba the top rated Winform horse paid $16.10. BUT many punters did not notice the $1.70 first starter favourite. In this circumstance, we should have bet just that horse, however from a C Plan point of view both horses were backed. This is what I did, as I simply don't have the time to run Powerbet live during the week.
Those who did bet the winner mostly quit for the day which turned out to be a good strategy as the rest of the day produced few winners. There were several good winners at the Mowbray meeting in Launceston. The only fixed odds market came from Unitab.
Today is Mount Gambier Cup Day. It is our Daily Feature Race.
Thursday 20th May: A good winning day again with another double digit winner. A note though for Powerbet users as brought up to me by Bill from Victoria. He thinks many players may be bound up by going into too much detail as they enter their bets into the Powerbet program. He suggest you cut down on keystrokes so today Kemla race4 3 just becaomes KG3 and the top rated horse doesnt need to be entered, we know what it is then the next entry is just B which is the second rated horse and so on. Also when entering the expected odds just go to the nearest 50 cents e.g. $3.4 become $3.5, $3.1 is $3 and so on.
Anyhting that saves time gives you more chnace to get on when races are close together. I myself abbreviate similar to the above. The only variation I make is if I take a fixed price I note it in the loc box e.g FP6 for $6.
Tonight they race at Mowbray at Launceston. That'll be a chilly experience. We should have updates about 11 a.m. but will there be fixed prices? Unitab will probably have them and their markets are usually about 107%. Fantastic.
Wednesday 19th May: Two eligible Premium bets yetserday. Both placed with one paying $1.90. An extraordinary amount for a place dividend. The inelgible horse ran second. There is only a 10% difference in the strike rate with or without rules but it makes a big differerence, doubling the profit.
Those using the Money Factory program report consistent earnings either way.
Yesterday there was a small profit for the Powerbet Strategy with the last winner at Rockhampton clearing the series. For the very first time our Magazine is running late. We also got a query yesterday from a member who hadn't been receiving the Newsletter. The Winform Newsletter will now be posted on the webiste in the Members Area. There are none there for the year so far but we will rectify that as we recreate the website. Our Member preferred to have the Newsletter in his hand and that is ouir preference also but cosst have beaten us. At $6,000 plus per month we simply can't afford to post them. This Member offered to pay but as we said, he would be one of the few as we had guaranteed Members that they would never be asked to pay for the Newsletter.
Subscribers tyo the Ratings still have until May 31st to extend their Subscriptions at the old price. We will take up to 12 month extensions but from June 1st we have to charge at the new price. Our current orices are about HALF what our competitors charge. The other big difference is that we still find lonerg priced winners than any other service.
Tuesday 18th May (UPDATE): Rockhampton has been reissued as a Good track. We have uploaded a new Ratings file and a new Powerplay file at 11:18 a.m.
I made a bit over $800 yesterday. Not bad and so I stopped betting. I spent most of the day avoiding Jennifer who clearly had a very bad cold. She's feeling too bad to come in today. The Magazine is written, it's the production side that we are behind with. Also we have had queries about the Winform Daily Mail. When you log in it is listed under the old Grandslam tag because we simply haven't had time to change it as we have to change our whole system to do it.
We also dont have Greg's book or the Daily Mail in the Bookshop. Same story. No time. Once the Magazine production is finished we will be able to clean up everything so please be patient with us. We are still here to take your orders and queries over the phone.
Monday 17th May: Timeline 4 a.m. The Benalla winner Saturday shouldn't have been a bet. It's Winform nett was less than 21 and I faliled to notice until several subscribers pointed it out to me. I noticed yesterday that Unitab was offering a fixed price market on Devonport. It scored me one ood winner and a good profit on the day although I did reach virtually the last bet of a series twice during the day. Each series was saved and went on to clear profits eventually.
Richard split his bank into three for yesterday, making good profits in two and the third has a carryover. No problem. With an easier timeline during the week just carry on and don't use the other banks until you need OR just carry on running the three banks in order as bets fall. In the end it will make no difference. Our race strike rate is failry consisitent and only the price of winners and where they fall affect us.
Sunday 16th May: How hard it must have been for members not to back Jest For Fun yesterday. It was just $11 on course but as 7yo and second rated our Powerbet players care advised to gove it a miss. Bugga $53.90 dividend down the drain. Not to worry though because two races later at Benalla we copped a $32 winner and for the day there was $1800 profit on my $20 base bet.
Richard reported in and he had eliminated a lot of races to give him time to get on. He lost $535 but bet about half as many races. My hand eye coordination and experience means that I rarely miss a race. It is not so easy for the less experienced. It takes time to build up speed and confidance. Allen Gibson has a different solution. He is using ten accounts. That way he misses nothing but of course he has ten series going all the time. Some will be in profit and some in loss at a ny one time and it will take time to be making an overall profit but of course if his bank balance is going up the incomplete series can be shut down and all start again.
Another idea is to just run say three accounts as you will get to a solution sooner and you don't need to miss any races. It's like Sky Channel now. If a race jumps late or early they simply switch one of the races over to Sky 2.
On the multiple banks thing. many years ago, I ran 32 banks and used the prepost market. This covered all races most days and Saturdays I hit the second set of 32 after entering results in. That scenario seemed to work okay too.
Saturday 15th May: One Premium for one winner yesterday and Powerbet users got hot when they had four wins from the last five races run yesterday. Brenton Burford had another run of ten series completions with a profit in a row and it could have been fourteen had he continued on, however my instructions were not to tempt fate. We actually have a srike rate of about 13 completions to every stop loss, that's a 93% series win rate. In February we had a new record of hundreds of series closing in profit in a row.
Today they are expecting a track upgrade at Doomben so we have put up Good. It'll be close enough as warm weather is predicted. Gotta go. Jennifer is putting up the ratings today and I am checking as she goes. It's a tough job on Saturdays.
Friday 14th May: A solid profitable day again yesterday. Two wins and three places out of four for the Premium Selections.
Richard sent me a summary of his week's action on Powerbet. He is learning as he goes but he is now getting it right. He seems vey laid back but is wary of Saturday with the large number of reaches and little time in between. The easy way is to eliminate races where you will have trouble getting fixed prices or seeing or hearing them. The Strategy needs the prices and results. After looking through the races start by takig out thew obvious e.g. small fields, 2yo and F&M races.
Identify the races where the time is tight e.g.: if a race is 2200 metres and the next race is five minutes away you probably won't get a result before you need to place the next set of bets. Choose what you think is the better race and leave the other one out. Tomorrow there is a 3200 metre race at Flemington so three and a half minutes just to run if it starts on time then while it is running a Lismore race where you won't even get a result and a Belmont race over 2000 metres then five minutes to Morphettville. Lismore is out and maybe even Belmont, especially if Flemington is a photo.
Some days the winners will come from the races you eliminate and some days you will simply save your money. Just accept that this will happen.
Thursday 13th May: Nobody told me I'd forgotten to get the diary done yesterday. Anyhow, the news is that Tuesday was successful and so was Wednesday. Brenton doubled his Powerbet Bank yesterday after he carried over from Friday. That's a good result. Everyone of the Punting Partners did well too, making over 33% on their series.
I reckon that Jennifer is happy (our customer Jennifer) Here's her email and my response:
Hi Garry,
Firstly, thank you that you & your team are always so cheery & helpful
whenever I ring. It is very refreshing. I started betting the strategy on Sat .....wasn't organised so made a
few mistakes....missed the big winner ( had a phonecall, would you
believe). You've answered a lot of questions in your diary, but I have
a couple more.
Where do you get the fixed prices from? I noticed that with some
venues, IAS & TAB only had 1 or 2 races with fixed prices, some were
in different races. Do you eliminate those meetings or just bet those
races?
Also, if either or both of the top 2 is paying more than $21, do you
eliminate that race or bet the next horse down the ratings?
Thank you, Jennifer
We get our fixed prices from sportingbet.com.au and use those prices to determine the bets. Then we bet where we can get the best price. Any horses that are eliminated just means one less horse for that race. We don't go to the 4th horse unless there's a late scratching. I don't bet race venues where no fixed orices are available.
Tuesday 11th May: You don't need my numbers to see how profitable Powerbet and the Top Three strategy went yesterday. Suffice to say it simply continues on. Our Punting Partners have all made good profits. I hope to focus on other strategies which are suitable for those who cannot watch the races. The Premiums, for example, continue to make profits with another 5.5 units profit in April. With some members putting bigger bets on the Premuims, they more than meet our target of one unit per week. A 50 unit Bank is enough to double your bank each year.
Monday 10th May: I will be late this morning as the rear window of my car is stuck down and I really want it fixed. At 5 in the morning it's bloody cold with the window down (only 2 degrees outside plus wind chill factor). Yet another Feature Race win!!. This time a $22.90 Quinella as recommended.
We'll get our E-News out this afternoon sometime. And yes we had a lovely Mothers Day, thank you.
Greg and Karen have decided to move to a warmer climate, so obviously cannot be at the office to liaise with clients etc. Karen is an able administrator, and while the electronic age is with us we still need to pack and send books and software although eventually it might all become electronic. Sales of Greg’s book have flowed 25 to 1 in favour of a hard copy and that tells us something.
As you will be aware via Greg’s blog and the diary, Greg has had some magnificent wins during the year and added to that: Saturday through the Feature Race ($159 Quinella multiple times as per his staking plan from his book), although the $29000 First Four result is yet to be replicated. It will come. I guess the point is, you don't need to be in an office 9-5 to make a living when you can get those sorts of results.
“Professional Punting- My Personal Approach, the new book by Greg released by Winform has certainly re focused my efforts and as such improved my punting even in the short time I have had it. It is amazing to see someone share their techniques and the mindset that is required to crack the game in such an open manner"
Roger Sumner
Needless to say Roger took advantage of the approach to make a good profit Saturday as did many of our Members.
Sunday 9th May: It's all in the timing. Beehog was nearly the last bet in your Powerbet series or the first bet or two in a new series aftare closing off at a loss. With the Flemington races being way off schedule it was just another challenge on a busy Saturday.
In answers to queries during the week I advised either splitting the races into two groups on Saturday or having a special account just for overflow bets, those bets you couldn't possibly place in the main series because of a clash in race times. Either way there were results to be had. Betting all races in order (if you could get on) resulted in a series loss but a nett profit of $572. Doing it the other way could have netted $2k or more in profit. It's wahtever you are comfortable with. At the end of the day you should still win.
Is there anybody who doubts the value of our Daily Feature Race service? We simply keep finding the big winners. Greg's last blog entry summed it up well "The bigger the uncertainty (in the betting markets) the bigger the dividend." I haven't heard since Thursday (Greg and Karen have had Internet problems with their Telstra wirelss connection) but I assume Greg would have had quite a few dollars on Beethog with his staking plan and a big hit on the Quinella as well. It was a recommended race under Gre's race selection plan in his new book.
Saturday 8th May:UPDATE: Wow what a result for the Daily Feature Race. A day after we advise that you can ignore the $21 rule in Listed and Group races for the top two rated horses up gets Beethog at $81.50 and the top rated horse ran 2nd for a great Quinella at $150.
About 50% of the phone calls I get are already answered in the diary right here. Yesterday we don't do the Sunshine Coast Cushion track or Darwin where no fixed odds were available. Other than that there appeared to be enough winners for a profit. I don't intend to continue doing the workouts every day as there has been more than enough proof that the approach works.
My son Mat started a new job last Wednesday so I now get up at 5 to get him to work. Late yesterday he was offered a full time job which he starts Monday. Ros and I have our fingers crossed. He doesn't need a drivers licence for this one. Now we have to endure the qualifying period and it will be hard work.
Today I have to make the most of it as tomorrow, Ros has organised a big day for her Mum and I guess few of us will be punting tomorrow but I'll have the ratings up anyway. Maybe some mothers wish for Sunday is that they be allowed to punt in peace.
Friday 7th May: Update: I've just finished the longshot analysis for Winform Top Two horses in Group and Listed races and it seems that we can include the longshots as we get double the number of longshot winners in these high quality races compared to how we do in ordinary bread and butter races. This would have a lot to do with the fact that many of these races are open betting markets. It's still no good beting the third rater if it's a longshot. The vast majority still fit in the $21 range so make up your own mind.
Another good profitable day yesterday and I also got time to run through the 7yo conundrum. It was worse than even I thought. The successes were basically limited to 3yo to 5yo. 7yos had a very bad strike rate of just 11% and a savage loss of over 19% and that was at the very best prices possible. My next look at the databse will be to look at horses at longer prices in these higher quality races.
All three of our Punting Partners retruned profits yesterday. The Punting Partner program works like this. We supply the software license and the selections to people with the time and money (minimum $5,000) to bet at least 80 races a week. There is a $1,000 security deposit but other than that the only fee is 20% of the profit. Obviously we maintain a close working relationship. You have to talk directly to me (02) 49501747 to discuss.
Today Greg has found a special in the Wagga Gold Cup. It is our Daily Feature Race and will also appear on our Winform Daily Mail which currently appears under the Grandslam banner.
Thursday 6th May: A massive profit yesterday. We gave out six winners at Warnambool including the Quaddie. We scored the Feature race Quinella at better than $60 and the Powerbet strategy had a big win also. Stanzout was a 7yo and 3rd rated in the Wangoon. I didn't include him in my +$1443 workout but many did. I promised Grant I would do a run through to see the record of 7yos in Listed and Group races in the Winform Top Three over the poast five years. It may have to be tomorrow as Prue is back to the doctors today. We can take phone calls though.
Today is the last day if the Warmambool Carnival but the first day of the Wagga Cup Carnival.
Wednesday 5th May Greg reckons he has a good longshot special in the Feature sprint at Warnambool today so don't miss that. It will be our Daily Feature race. Not a lot of winners yesterday but a $21 winner early made Members a lot of money and a sigh of relief. Januaryhtrough May the Top Three strategy has made a level stakes profit, inclduding 10% POT in April. Winfrom Gold had a 76% strike rate in April. How good is that! Race strike rate of the top three was 41% and remember that includes all the 8+ fields so eliminates the small fields where obviously the strike rate has to be very much higher.
We would appreciate any feedback subscribers might have on our new Winform Daily Mail which is in trial mode. It is currently found in the Grandslam page. Please email your comments to winform@hunterlink.net.au
Tuesday 4th May: It didn't get better yesterday and today we have only two meetings with the abandonment of the Ballina meeting. Warnambool is an enigma as we do either very very well or, well you know the answer. We don't bet in the jumping races but we do watch. We have a number of Members setting up separate banks just to bet at the Bool. Good luck over the next three days.
Monday May 3rd: Update 3.50 p.m. I've had to check to make sure we had the right ratings up today. No winners at all seem to be appearing or they are in 4th place or worse. Four short priced winners in the top three if that. Tough luck if you started today. With a poor finish to last week thena brilliant weekend and now a tough start to the week. Reminds me of the confetti principle but none of it is landing in the right place today.
Greg has chosen Monday's Feature Race for the public holiday in Queensland. My Feature Race yesterday found the Goodwood winner, Quinella, Trifecta and First Four so $8.90, $16.30 $300+ and $6,880 (stab). Saturday's Powerbet was $1,600+ and Sunday even better at $2,272 which more than makes up for the bad finish to April.
We're under the pump today with just a few days left to get the Magazine together. In that Magazine we'll release all our product changes which should simplify things a lot. And Greg has added to his Blog too.
Sunday May 2nd: Too busy to do an update yesterday but we had some results. A 1st and a 3rd in our Weekend Feature Race and a Trifecta (even though we didn't recommend it) in the Hawkesbury Guineas for the Daily Feature Race.
***GOOD NEWS*** The Daily Feature Race is now included for no extra charge to all Ratings Subscribers on the Grand Slam page.
This page will be renamed shortly to the Winform Daily Mail. More details on this service will be launched in the Winter Edition of the Magazine.
For the past three months I have been updating the Powerbet strategy based on a $20 base bet and betting virtually every day. Our feedback suggest that subscribers get diferent results although mostly more positive, as they start and finish at different times and see the odds at different times.
My figures show three consecuitve losing days on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday but still a highly positive result for April making four consecutive winning months. Feedback tell me that Wednesday was a winning day or only a small losing day. Saturday looked like a winnig day with some excellent winners. It is clear though that the scheduling of the NSW and Queensland country meetings is causing big problems with a shortage of fixed odds and races going off at the same time as other meetings. It makes it an impossible task which forces you to choose in advance which races you will bet on.
It is also upsetting when you race choice vauses you to miss good winnners.
Grandslam was succesful yesterday but the Premiums all went down so zero from four with two placed. A good win so far for the Weekend Sports Bets.
Friday April 30th: Some lessons to be learned from the past two days. Firstly, here's a sneaky one. In a fillies and mares race on Wednesday all the competitors were mares. There were no fillies so that race could have been bet. The same would apply if the race field was all fillies as has also happened. A more interesting situation arose yesterday and fooled a few. We don't bet 7yo and up UNLESS the top rate Winform horse is a 7yo. That happened in Sale race 5 yesterday, Celtic Empire and it was an $11.50 winner. You don't get many of these so if you missed it don't worry too much.
Wednesday there was a $589 profit but if you carried on you had a big carryover to Thursday where your would have ended up -$1663.40 and a carryover for today. Yesterday you could have quit early with a nice profit midway through the afternoon. What will today bring? Well , i've had a number of queries on the rules so here's a quick rehash.
Winform Top Three. 3yo-6yo only (exception 7yo if top rated) no mixed fillies and mares races. Field size 8-24. No bets at Sunshine Coast Cushion Track, Canberra Acton or any venue where fixed odds are not available. Horses with a Winform nett of less than 21 are not included.
Races with first starters. If a first starter is the favourite you take this horse as your top rated horse so the actual Top Rater comes in as the 2nd rater if it fits into the 50% (see below). For a list of prices and their percentages see the odds conversion chart under betting tools on our home page.
Looking at the fixed odds we bet starting with the top rated horse to 50% only i.e. if Dutch Betting we would make 100% or more. Horses which are $26 or more in the fixed price market are ignored. We enter the elgible horses and their fixed price into the Powerbet program which will give us our bet size. We then place our bets where we can get the best price.
Thursday 29th: Brenton built the bank up nicely and increased our base bet 40% but we have only two races left in the current series. We need a winner early today desperately. I suspect most would have taken their big win ($19.70 Northam) and quit for the day.
Wednesday 28th: Update: Our first Punting Partner is underway and we will have a second tomorrow. I have just finished looking at what could happen if we let the bank increase as we are going. I used the good period from April 1st and for one week let the profits build up. You transfer the profit each time and for the six betting days (nothing Good Friday) there were 38 series completed. The starting base bet was $20 but after the six days the bank had increased to $60,000+ Had we bet on the next day, all that money would have gone so where do we stop?
Whenever we make a profit is the easy answer. I am thinking that if we completer ten series that would be fairly common and not pushing our luck too far. We'll see. Brenton is giving it a go so we will see how far he gets.
$752 profit yesterday from just those two meetings yesterday. We got this from Paul who has just started betting the new strategy.
We put in a lot of work to come up with winning strategies and it is nice to know we are appreciated for it. Nothing makes us feel better than to see our Members make money for real. We can say whatever we like but it is people like Paul who put it into practice that are the icing on the cake.
Garry, I just read your email and would like to say thanks to Jennifer. I rang up and ordered 3 months of your Ratings and even though she didn’t sound sure of herself (which she admitted) she was really helpful. I have always found all of your team helpful in everything I have ever asked especially Prue.
I have won over $200 today on your Powebet system albeit with my own modifications but that has been on about 3 hours work. I think this is incredible
Punting Partnership: Right now we are looking for a couple of punting partnerships. You will need $5,000 betting money and the time to place your bets on a race to race basis, so maybe four hours a day and a minimum of say 80 races to be bet per week. You will be supplied with a copy of The Powerbet program and the selections you need to operate the plan. You pay an upfront deposit of $1,000. You return 20% of your profits each week. After a qualifying period you will have the right to simply purchase the software and selections for a twelve month period and retain all the profits. Your deposit is only forfeited if you pull out of the program before the end of the qualifying period. Naturally we will be talking to you every few days and hopefully you will learn a lot along the way.
Tuesday April 27th: A nice win starting from scratch yesterday of over $900. A loss if you carried over. It does make a difference. Only the one Premium bet for a loss, still four from six for the weekend is not bad. Only two meetings today. An easy day for operators but a day off for others. I have so much to do I have only caught up with the diary at 11 a.m., in spite of being up since 3 a.m. getting my Powerbet records up to date.
Monday April 26th: With Bathurst and Moe abandoned, many small fileds at Yarra Valley and Gosford, plus we don't do the artificial track at the Sunshine Coast or Hobart where no fixed odds are available, it seemed like the ideal day to watch the footy. Our Saturday night footy bet lost when St Kilda went down but our Saints bet in the NRL cruised home. We stilll have one game to go and that should put us in front for the weekend.
Our strategy dropped $1957.30 on Saturday and as well we have a carryover of $558 goiing into today if you believe in carrying over. The feedback I get is that most would have taken the loss Saturday and not continued on. I have family coming over today so will have to review results at the end of the day but with my $14k profit from a series of $50 all ups on the Premium on Saturday I am not too concerned about today.
Sunday April 25th: My dad has stopped going to the Anzac Day activities. One reason is his fitness and inability to walk let alone march. Yesterday his mobility scooter broke down in the main street near his retirement home. My wife and Mat rescued the scooter and him. The other reason is that all of his mates from his wartime service in New Guinea are either deceased or in the same condition as he is. But he will get out his scrapbook and relive the memories of seeing the bombers returning for a fresh load and then heading out again for more raids on Japanese shipping. He will remember the basic rations that our troops had compared to the pampered Ameircan troops with their T Bones and all the trimmings every day. And he will remember the coral that gave him an infected foot for the next dozen or so years. Luckily he came home to my mum or I wouldn't be here. Today's about memories and a celebration of the Australian spirit and a drink and a flutter to help forget.
Saturday 24th April: Update 5:10 p.m. Feature Race $6 place plus quinella. I scored a $200 rebate for running second in the cup from Iasbet. We had the Treble and Quaddie too plus four out of five won for the Premium. My bets were all up but conservative...only won a few thousand. Powerbet soft today. Plenty of winers but no good prices. Still a good resut for the month.
UPDATE 3:00 p.m: I reckon we drop Eagle Farm. That is a big downgrade. Our first three Premiums all won, two to go. Carryong over from yesterday has caused a stop los with Powerbet.
UPDATE: Wasn't Kembla Race 2 an exciting race? It was a C Plan race and a really big wiing race with the winner paying $19 and leading at one stage by a furlong! Won by a head.
There hasn't been a drop of rain in Sydney so there is no excuse if the track comes up as anything other than Good today. I made $902 yesterday but chose to continue and have a carryover of $300+ into today. At this stage I am sitting at +$13721 for the month which is incredibly good when you concider that the Bank is only $20,000 and since January 1st has never had a drawdown of more than $4,900. In fact the bank was well over $10,000 in front when this happened so the actual Bank need never have been touched.
Dennis hit a very bad run when he started in March, getting $8,000 behind but it was purely because he started betting on a very bad patch and uniquely, he managed to miss the good winning days in between the bad ones. Since then of course, he has recovered to work his way to the front. Now you see why we insist on having that Bank behind you.
Powerbet is a winner when applied to the Winform Ratings. It has proved a bonanza when applied using the strategy I have released in this diary. It is not for everyone. You need to follow the reacs as they happen OR run a series of banks from race 1 today to race 2 tomorrow, race 2 today to race 2 tomorrow and so on. Powerbet can cope but can you?
If you want to place all bets and be done with it you can work our Premium Selections. Yesterday one win and three places from three bets and I took a place all up as a back up to my win all up bet for a small win.
Friday April 23rd: $455 profit yesterday. My series closed out with the last winner at Townsville at -$7 but I got the message "end series now". This messages come up when the bank is either slightly down after a series of bets but less than one unit down, or in front. It is wise to take the advice as it indicates that in spite of the closeness of the bank situation, the total loss column has built up causing future bets to be substantial.
Did you realise also, that if you are finding your bets are getting too big for you, you can manually change them using the edit function. There are also other options. One subscriber I spoke to yesterday, bet a $68 runner on Wednesday on an each way basis even though it was inelgible because of the price. It finished second in a photo but of more interest was that it paid $9.20 for the place, enough to clear the series at a profit. I don't necessarily endorse this idea but if you think that it is a good play then do it.
In Group or major Metropolitan races, quite often you will see one or more of our top rated horses at really long odds. I bet these and I have been rewarded with winners like Roman Arch at $100+ in the Australain Cup a couple of years ago. In races like these, the prices can eb iver the top and not be an indication of the horse's chance. The same applied to a number of long shot winners in these better quality races. In the ordinary bread an butter races we see day to day there is no such logic and the records show a severe negative for both the win and the place for runners at longer than $21 fixed.
I have Jennifer Smart assiting me in the office while Prue is off and Greg and Karen are away. Jennifer is helping put the magazine together and is taking our calls and processing orders. yesterday she did all the racing work although she is not a punter. I checked it all of course. The office is closed from 5 p.m this afternoon until Tuesday.
I have a first draft of our exciting new website which will include an online forum so Susbcribers will be able to post their wins and losses, good stories and bad and also have access to the latest racing news. We are hoping to have this up and running soon once we have quotes and choose a provider. There are changes happening here that hopefully will allow Members better access to our services. There are four good country and provincial meetings on today with lots of winning opportunities.
Thursday April 22nd UPDATE 2: Talk about traps for young players. Gosford race 4 was designated as a F&M race but in fact every runner was a 3yo filly. I had a chat with Ray earlier and he had misinterpreted our rule no F & M races as no mares and no fillies races. In fact we do bet fillies only and mares only, we don't bet in races where it is a mixed fillies and mares race.
Another mix up is that some members are betting the 4th horse if they can fit it in. This mostly won't work. There will be some winners but it will wreck the dynamic of the plan. We're winning well, let's just let it roll and make minor adjustemenst as circumstances change. I'm not all that convinced that we should bet on heavy tracks after Coffs on Tuesday but overall it still seems o.k. We'll watch our future results.
Update: We've had a few members who found that their new computers were not back compatible. Microsoft have guaranteed that programs like ours which were programmed some years ago would continue to run, however there are a number of computers out there which are designed to only run 64bit programs. Worse still, the assistants in the computer shop don't know this so some members have been sold these non compatible machines.
A few members have simply bought an old XP laptop just to do their punting and nobody has any trouble with these.
I quit Powerbet yesterday with a $919 profit after Cyclone Al scored at $13.70, although Iasbet was offering $16 fixed at the death. Nice difference. There were about half a dozen races left and had you continued you would have scored the last winner at Ascot at $19+ for another big payout.
I had a phone conversation back and forth with Phil yesterday and as he and I set up our bets at slightly different times his result dollar wise was different to mine. Also he wasn't watching the fixed prices. I get mine from sportingbet through dynamicraceodds. If you want tor try their service for free just look in any of the past few issues of Horse Racing Australia magazine for the offer code.
In NSW we are having a holiday on Monday and I dopn't know what for. Anzac Day is on Sunday. Anyhow, I will do all the usual ratings from my homne office Saturday through to Monday so the office won't be attended. If your subscription expires over the weekend you will need to phone the office before 4 p.m. Friday.
My Sydney Cup assessment is up now on the Weekend Feature Race page and I'm looking at the possibility of a double figure payout.
Wednesday April 21st: The racing season at Bunbury came to an end yesterday and took our money with it. Our third losing day of the month. We didn't do so well on the rain affected Coffs Harbour track either. I have hired someone to help me in the office so you are welcome to call. I'm hoping Prue will be back bright as a button by Monday. For the first tome it looks like we will miss our magazine deadline but that might be a good thing, allowing us to put in some valuable information I am working on that would not have been ready to go to print yet.
I have had a horror run with the Daily Feature Race, although the Quinella was there yesterday. Small compensation. It's wednesday again today so let's get stuck into it and see what happens. We need a good one.
Tuesday April 20th:Updated: I finished the workoutfor yesterday and there was $289 to be had. Not a lot but a profit. The bad news is that Prue won't be back until Monday due to an acute bout of tonsilitis.
I reckon a squre or slightly behind day yesterday althought two Premiums did win. Prue is still ill and I am still all alone. At least I brought some lunch today. I better get those ratings up for everybody.
Monday 19th April: Another good winning day for the Powerbet strategy yesterday. Is that + $13000 for the month to date?. My orders for Powerbet are behind for the first time ever. Prue has been ill on and off for some time and I am working on my own. Normally it is send out the order the day we receive it which is why we have won so many Australian Achiever Awards. It won't happen today but a day or too late won't hurt I hope.
Premium had a good win yesterday too courtesy of our Wagga winner. Our information will be posted as usual no problem and I am here to answer your phone calls and take orders. Anyhow off to the mailbox and a quick brekkie before nose to the grindstone.
Just had a chat to Colin who used to do small developments. These days he prefers to punt particularly on the NRL and is doing well. He also has a good go on Saturdays. After years of being on the fast trakc he is now taking it easy and living life.
Sunday April 18th: Another $1800 in the kitty and that includes the carryover from Friday. A couple of times yesterday I had to place bets for two races in a row and once the first race provided a winner which meant that I had too much on the next race. It won too but the bets were small at that stage. The disappoint was at Queanbeyan where our $32 winner was a base bet.
Winform Gold had another good day helping Premium to a 3 unit profit.
Saturday April 17th: Greg and Karen are still taking the slow road north on their extended holiday and he sent an apology by text this morning for not adding to his blog as he has experienced many black spots once you get off the beaten track.
Added to that, Prue became ill and had to go home before lunchtime leaving just me to hold the fort. Luckily, callers were patient and Mat came in to answer the phone and organise the despatch of Greg's new book Professional Punting, My Personal Approach. It is the ideal read for anyone who feels they have lost their way in punting. Even more experienced punters will take something from it. I apologise for those of you getting the book electronically as I don't think Prue was able to finish before she left.
Doncaster Day. Enjoy it while it lasts. Theseo is as good as anything. At least you know he will be in good hands and up the front.
Yesterday another profitable one for Powerbet, although many may have a small carryover. My series shows + $500 or +$300 if I wite off the last few bets and start fresh today. It is realaly up to the individual and thanks to all those who purchased Powerbet yesterday. We ran out of discs as the response was so good but we will organise more stock and hopefully get it out by Express Post Monday.
Friday April 16th: Gregs book has arrived back from the printers and will be despatched today. Electronic copies will also be available later today and those who chose this option will be emailed with the link to downnload it. We are accepting orders for $149 up until 4 p.m. today on (02) 49501747.
Yesterday was a big winning day for the new strategy and even after dropping a few races later in the afternoon there was still $898 in the kitty. I'll repeat the stratgey. Winform top three. Leave out races less than 8 starters (this increases the dividends) leave out 2yo races and F&M races and dont back horses older than 6 excpet 7yo if they are top rated only.
Starting with the top rated horse look at the fixed price market. Add up the percentage of each horse's price until you are not exceeding 50%. This ensures you can at least double your money on the race. The percentage chart is under betting tools on our home page, last item. Don't bet horses with a fixed price longer than $21 but do bet all final selections at the best possible price.
Thursday April 15th: Toowoomba Cup Day today. That sneaked up on me but I reckon I will back the winner again this year. I have made it our Daily Feature Race today. The Weetwood is also on but that race is so open I can't make a recommendation. I don't have figures for Powerbet for yesterday, maybe someone can let me know how they went. I'll get the figures done when I can. Luckily Dynamic Race Odds reschedules the races so lookig at backdata is accurate timewise
Thanks to John for getting back to me. On the $20 base bet we made $2976 yesterday. Makes me wish I was punting instead of doing the business yesterday. Greg's book is promised for tomorrow so you should have it, if you ordered it, next week.
Wednesday April 14th: A more difficult day yesterday with setbacks at Benalla, changing the race schedule. I had to be through to sixish to clear the series which I did at over $300 up. The race strike rate this month is almost exactly on target at 35% (36% expected). A user advised me that in dynamicraceodds you can have a column for each of horse age, horse sex, and last four starts. This solves the problem for most Members. The only thing you can't get is the wnett but there are few horses outside these parameters anyway.
In races witht first starters, I treat the first starter favourite as the Top Rated Winform horse and the top rated winfrom horses I treat as the Second Rated, so in some cases I will only back the first starter favourite which has a strike rate of 36% anyway.
Powerbet is for sale until 4 p.m. Friday for just $770 and of course you own it for life. You could buy the Powerbet program plus three months Saturday and Sunday Ratings for just $1,065 to give it a good trial. From Monday, Powerbet on it's own will be $990 so that's a great saving.
Tuesday April 13th: My wife and son narrowly avoided a serious accident last night. A ladder fell off a truck ahead of them and at 110kmh it was impossible to avoid it. There is some damage to the car but none to them. It made me think about how life would be without anyone.
As predicted, only a small payday yesterday with $210 profit. Eddie has been working with it for some time now but can't bet everyday. He bets until either 33% up or 33% down. This way, he says ÿou recoup any losses on just one day. "I can see the logic in that."
Monday April 12th: Sunday was a good day with two out of three Premiums winning. Powerbet strategy scored $1400 profit so only $200 down for the weekend. Its a busy day today with hundreds of renewal subscriptions to go out. Also the rpice of the Powerbet program will increase to $990 next Monday so it can be bought for just $770 up until 4 p.m. Friday.
Sunday April 11th: A sad loss yesterday of $1608 with a carryover to boot. I say sad because on an ordianry day we would have been able to bet on Lismore where we had two $20+ winners. We had no prices and the races ran at the same time as the Gold Coast most of the day. The other sad thing was that we had a $54 winner which was eliminated because of the price but we also eliminated many other runners for the same reason. Long term our strategy is better of without them but on the day..it hurts.
Plenty of Grandslam winners and Premium winners too but no great prices. At least we were able to bet on Townsville even if we had no prices. We didn't need them. Was it five winners from seven? Something like that.
Saturday April 10th: Amazing! I did bet yesterday and quit $652 up about 4 p.m. I missed another four winners with the possibility of another $300 or so if I'd stayed till 6 p.m. That's just under $6,000 profit for the past week. You can actually choose which days you want to work you know. Simply look at what's on and decide. I probably won't bother with Monday when there are only two meetings on. For those who have nothing better to do it represents a chance to make maybe $200. Plenty of our subscribers are not quick on the keyboard. Days like that are ideal for them.
One of our Subscribers splits their Saturdays into race meetings where there are at least ten minutes between races. That's a good idea. The first time he tried it though, the winners all came from the races he had left out. It realy doesn't matter. Long term it is proven to be successful.
I haven't forgotten about the good old C Plan. It still works fine. I havent forgotten about the Premiums either, yesterday one bet for a place. You know, real professional punting is definitely an option and I continue to make more money at times from punting as I do from the business. One of the problems we have always had here is that we employ people part time or on a consultancy basis and while they don't go totally away, they dedicate their time to their own punting and who could blame them? There are some good stories out there from the professionals and you wouldn't know them. They are simple garden variety types who dont get reported in the media and don't make enough waves to get spotted by the corporates or the tax man.
On the subject of tax, I am putting together an article to show you how to apply for a private tax ruling that will effectively give you tax free status for life.
Friday April 9th: Superstition doesn't work. I was away yesterday and it was a losing day, -$2081 and only three qualifying winners. I aim to tune the betting to finish about 5 p.m. Had we continued there were a couple more winners but you need to draw a line somewhere, there are plenty more races today.
So the race strike rate was just 15% and I noted in Bendigo Race 6. we missed a winner. This was a C Plan race which made about 80% profit. Should we include those? Up to you really. I find it hard to go past.
Thursday April 8th: I told you so. Another big day yesterday. Here's the score card for April so far. No betting Good Friday of course and too litttle action to bother Tuesday the 6th.
APRIL POWERBET
1/4/2010 40.7% $497.70 11/27 58
2/4/2010 - - - - -
3/4/2010 55% $2655 21/38 80
4/4/2010 27% $792.20 9/22 66
5/4/2010 36% $2286.60 12/33 67
6/4/2010 - - - - -
7/4/2010 31% $1173.10 6/19 34
Sorry about the formatting, not my strong suit. Overall a 42% race strike rate which is way above normal (about 36%) but March was quite poor so I guess it's a statistical catch up.
I'm away again today so maybe that's another opportuntiy. Greg and Karen go on holidays next week so Prue and I will be well behind the eightball so no opportunities for one on ones with Members until May.
Prue returns to work tomorrow after her unfortunate incident.
It has delayed the release of Greg's book which was to have been at the printers by now but we'll get there. We expect to relase by the end of the month. The way things are going the next Magazine may well be delayed but we have never missed a deadline yet. Fingers crossed.
Wednesday April 7th: I am at a mental health conference all day today. Feel free to bet. While I was not able to bet since last Thursday here's what happened with the Winform Ratings top three and Powerbet.
Thursday + $497.70, Friday no racing, Saturday +$2655, Sunday $792.20, Monday +$2286.60. My Powerbet users wish I was away more often. The race strike rate was 40%,55%,27% and 36% for those days. I eliminated 46 horses which were 7yo or more and only one of those won.
Prue had an allergic reaction on Monday and still too ill to come to work. Greg and Karen will be there.
Tuesday April 6th: I didn't realise all the Quaddies we scored at the weekend including Oakbank at $29,000. Would you have taken that one at a once or twice a year venue? Mind you with the top five at about 66% you have to expect a reasonable number to salute.
I have just analysed March results and note that using my Top Three strategies was not profitable for March. That was on average 2.6 horses per race but of course once the final strategey of the 100% is included that comes down to 2.1 horses per race at average $6+ Even on a low race strike rate of 30+% that is all you need to make a profit with Powerbet.
We analysed lots of Rating services and many were superior strike rates, even for March, but none could match the $6+ dividends that we get. That is really the key.
Not a lot of action today, but hey, we all need a rest after a busy easter.
Monday April 5th: Just arrived home from my little holiday and I must apologise for yesterday. The hotel I stayed at had Internet problems and it took until nearly 10.20 a.m. to get the whole thing going again.
What I am impressed with is that we have kicked off April not just with four out of four winning days but the size of the wins? How about today's $54.10 result? The only problem is that there have been few losing runs so our bets are small. Only two losing days for Janaury/February and then a poor month of March but still quite profitable and now this good run. Hope I'm not speaking too soon.
Saturday April 3rd: I'm expecting both Melbourne and Brisbane tracks to be upgraded early on advice from the track managers. The Rosehill track is currently Slow and an upgrade to a Dead track has no significance for us as it doesn't change the Ratings. Have a Happy Easter and please come back safely.
Thursday April 1st: We have had to accept a $6,000 result for March as yesterday was a bad losing day. Paul has asked us if we would be better off betting only in fields up to 14 runners and only on horses with no more than 25 starts. As I told Paul it is something we can look at but it is likely that the small increase in race strike rate would be offset by a lower averge dividend. There was nothing wrong with our race strike rate yesterday at 30% but the average dividend was less than $4 compared to our long term average of $6+.
We've had a reaction to the above. Members have called in to say that they actually did O.K. yesterday. I admit to two things. Firstly, I built in a carryover from Tuesday which meant that when the good winner arrived my series did not complete. Secondly. I did my workout last night from starting prices which are not always the prices that players would have used when betting a few minutes before the jump. Whenever possible, the results I quote are based on live time btu if aI am away the best I can do is estimate.
We didn't realise until yesterday that last Saturdays Big Six, was not won so had one of our subscribers taken the Rosehill selections we gave out they would have scooped the pool.
The big news today is that Nash Rawiller is to quit riding after this weekend to take up a position as foreman of the powerful Gai Waterhouse stable. We suspect that eventually we could see the Rawiller family set up in a similar type of operation as Freedman incorporated but will it be a Sydney or Melbourne operation? It is understood the deal with Waterhouse is to be signed Saturday at the Gai Waterhouse/ Punters Club tent over hot cross buns and a cup of tea.
Wednesday March 31st: With $1144 profit yesterday, after a carryover from Monday, we hit well over $7,000 profit for the month with Powerbet and Winform ratings. Our one Premium bet was also a winner. Today Prue and I are heading to Sydney for discussions about a new more informative website with the opportunity for everyone to have their say on major upcoming races and events.
Greg tossed up between two races yesterday for the feature and opted for an Ipswich race as Warwick Farm was so wet. Sadly, it was the wrong choice as it was the Sydney race that produced a top rated $10 winner.
They say that bookmakers don't like winners. Well how's this. One of my friends who is a professional punter was offered best tote on all win bets PLUS twenty cents. No doubt they are piggy backing on his success whch has seen a $100,000+ profit since the arrangement started. If I can secure such a deal for my clients generally they'd get another milion dollars a month in turnover.
IMPORTANT: THE OFFICE WILL NOT BE ATTENDED AFTER TOMORROW UNTIL TUESDAY 9AM. THIS MEANS ALL ORDERS FOR RATINGS AND TOP FIVE MUST BE IN BY 4P.M. TOMORROW. THE WEBSITE AND ALL OTHER SELECTION SERVICES WILL BE OPERATING NORMALLY.
Tuesday March 30th: Back to the dentist today for hopefully the last time this year as I have used up my benefits. I am replacing my amalgam fillings with porcelain but they are too expensive to do in one year.
Yesterday there was a profit of $1,000 after just six eligible races. It was a good time to quit. Yesterday I added up all the wins and losses for Powerbet for the month and came to a total of $5955 in front not counting yesterday for a $20 base bet.
More on the reasons for eliminations. Take horses 7yo and up. There are around 40-50 of these each week that appear in the Winform Top Three. Leaving these out saves $450 a week on $10 bets and $2250 a week on $50 bets. 7yo That are Winform top rated actually have a history of winning so you could leave these in I guess but they account for just 10 or so runners a week. On a $20 base bet the average bet in a series is just over thirty dollars, it hardly puts us in the big league and with $20,000 in total behind us it is hard to see us blowing the bank.
When I get a chance I intend to runa $1,000 bank and let the bet size build up to see how far I can go. We regularly go many completions in a row and in a test with real money nearly ten years ago Brenton Burford built up his bank to five figures before the unfortunate and inevitable run of outs hit. Brenton is recuperating well from his recent prostate surgery and we hope to see a new article in the Winter magazine.
Yesterday I spoke with one of the Members who wants to do the new strategy and I pinted out to him that we add up the fixed prices available on our runners starting with the top rated. If it happens that only the top rated can be bet then that is it. One bet. We don't skip the second rated and then add the third rated just because the second rated coudln't be bet. We do bet the top rated though even if short priced as the strike rate of these is very high. I would baulk at taking less than $1.50 though.
Monday March 29th: Damien has limited opportunties to use Powerbet as many of our Members do and so from the last ten days he has had four losing days, two of those were Saturday and Sunday. The good news is that Damien has followed up on the ideas about paraly betting and scored a big win which more than made up for any losses.
Sometimes timing is everything and after 60 days and only two losing ones I guess it was inevitable that we would lose a few. We have missed recently when horses at $25 to $70 have won after being eliminated. I ran these horses through the data base for January and February and found from 378 horses eliminated there was only one winner at $69 so a long way short of being square.
The Daily Feature Race was successful again yesterday making eight days out of the last nine where betting our nominated horses has proved profitable. Our money back promotion on the Daily Feature Race subscription expires at 4 p.m. sharp this Thursday so don't waste time thinking about it just get in.
Sunday March 28th: Newcastle race three and there was a three way photo between our top three rated horses. Hoist got up at $67 and the Trifecta was in the thousands as you would expect. Using our elimination rules Hoist was eliminated. It happens. The same happened in Toowoomba race 5 when we eliminated the $25 winner. These were two of the reasons we had a less than satisfactory day. Friday was a winning day but overall March is just keeping its nose in front. Today deteremies whether or not Powerbet stays in front for March.
Some would say "leave them in" but in the long run that is probably not the way to go. It hurts at the time to miss out but we left out over thirty horses in just the last week. Both the Weekend Feature Race and Daily Feature Race were successful and the two Weekend Sports bets resulted so far both won.
Saturday 27th March: One Premium yesterday for one win $2.70. One PBC yesterday for one win $4.00.and our Daily Feature Race collected again with Growl winning at $4.40. All selections where at Albury so the track very kind to us.Geelong should have upgraded to a good track but stayed dead all day. Garry and I reviewed it in depth in the morning and went with good. We give up ! The track manager made sure that Rosehill would start good today after a week of critisim from last Saturday's meeting being dead all day and 33C. Good Luck today.
Friday 26th March: Picked up some bad feedback at the Sydney seminar. It seems that websites are now being charged $2000 a month if they show race fields on their site. Expect to see a lot of the smaller businesses closing down as this is a lot more than the non professional sites make. Others like us will be obliged to add this to the cost of services so in the end you the punter are being forced to pay to see the fields to bet on. It's a bit of a joke. With a current court case to determine if anyone actually can copyright race fields they are treading on thin ice but of course the smaller players, including ourselves, coudln't afford to make a legal challenge so there is no choice but to pay up.
We aleady pay substantial fees for form which, to my mind, should include race fields. We'll see..
It was a good couple of days for me to be away as Powerbet did not do well. The week started with some good results and up to $1,000 profit but Wednesday (-$966) took that away and then yesterday we could not be on a $25 winner because of our 100% rule and lost $1560. It does all come back though and we are in front for March but only about $4,000 or so.
Our first ARL tip was a big winner when Carlton hit on the Tigers big time. I did see some promising play from a couple of the younger players but they did not play as a team. Hopefully that will come.
Thursday 25th March: Prue has returned from Sydney with some interesting information from the Seminar. A number of excellent options we could implement here at Winform. Garry remains at the seminar today. We are looking forward to hearing his views and any new opportunities that can add value for our Winform clients. I am sure Garry will keep you posted in tomorrows diary entry.
Wednesday 24th March: I spoke to John yesterday and he had not read the diary for quite some time so he wasn't aware of the new Powerbet Strategy. John had been a consistent user of Powerbet until he commenced owner building his home a couple of years ago. That project is nearing completion and his project and my new home project are coming to an end about the same time. My house was put together by commercial builder Eden Brae and we are still in dispute. John at least has noone to blame but himself so he makes sure he gets it right.
Today Prue and I are in Sydney negotiating better deals with Bookmakers for our clients and that reminds me. To those who attended the Seminar. That bonus offer we mentioned, expires March 31st. Prue returns tomorrow and I get back Friday.
Winform and Powerbet recouped the Monday carryover and scored lots more with a lot of winners yesterday. It would be so good if we could predict where the winnners fall wouldn't it? Two stop losses last week yet still we won well but if we'd known in advance about the losing days of Wednesday and Friday we could have taken a holiday.
Tuesday 23rd March:Midday Update I just had a chat with Ian Mackay, Tabcorps Wagering Manager. He's looking very closely at the result of this weekend's 10% bonus offer at Rosehill and he's been inundated with calls from Race Club secretaries who would be keen to patrticipate. It really should make a difference but one day won't tell the tale.
As we discussed, the ability for online punters to take a fixed price or a tote price with the TAB is a major benefit for punters especially as the TAB in NSW, Victoria and Unitab are betting fixed prices on venues which until now have been ignored by the Corporates. It adds to the competition and is a good reason for punters to start reopening their TAB accounts.
It's a busy week and I didn't get a chance yesterday to look at the figures but I suspect a small profit for Powerbet with a carryover to today. There weren't many races to work on, not many today either.
The challenge we face at present is how we can automate a lot of our online functions so that when you order say a Top Five, they are emailed back to you automatically which is something we do manually at the moment. One thing you can't automate is Magazine articles which require talent to organise and write. Luckily we get great support from our contributors including David Toulson, Damian Carroll, Brenton Burford and David Bendeich, not to mention our own staff.
Monday 22nd March: After lunch I got stuck into the races and had a high average of 2.3 runners per race. Like Saturday I did eliminate a couple of winners with the Powerbet Strategy rules. The race strike rate was 48% and the highlight was a $40.90 winner which was just $21 at the track. At the end of the day there was $1528 to soothe the fact that the West Tigers, our Weekend Sports special, flopped after leading 12 nil in the first half. We are now three from six after two rounds of the NRL.
Premium had a fair day with two winners from five bets that qualified. There were two other bets which failed the rules and one of those won.
Sunday 21st March: Moruya was slow yesterday but we gave out Good. Why? The Moruya track firms when the track is wet. We expected caulfield to stay dead but it was updgraded. We expedcted Rosehill to be upgraded but they obvioulsy stuffed up. It stayed Dead all day. Luckily our software will look at yesterday's Rosheill times and give bonuses based on the expected times they would have run had the track been good.
A First Four at Moruya $2335 in race 2. The Rosehill Quaddie in the top four. The $94 Quinella in the Daily Feature. Premium two out of two and Powerbet + $1640 for a $20 base bet to recoup after Friday. They're the good results. Grandslam missed out but it turns so suddenly and then we'll be laughing.
I have guests today so I better go get the Ratings up and then to entertaining.
Saturday 20th March: Why didn't somebody tell me I got the dates wrong? Anyhow it is right today which means I am at the dentist Monday. Great! Powerbet yesterday made a nice profit to a point. If you carried on you got wiped out with a succession of good priced seconds. My series was almost in profit but then the computer guru turned up with all the data from my burned out computer and I missed the good winner that produced the afternoon's profit.
This weekend we have vistors so no punting but I do have to work still as Prue is still very sick. Nothing life threatening but too ill to work.
Have you seen the latest Sportingbet Magazine which they send free to account holders. Beautiful top class presentation but no substance whatsoever. Their budget for just one issue would cover our production costs for the whole year. It took me all of five minutes to read it from cover to cover. But hey! Would you want to give your betting clients information on how to win?
Friday 19th March: Back at work today. Prue is off sick. I realise I will need new licences for a replacement computer following the electrical incident yesterday. It makes me sick. It will take a lot of time I don't have. I realise that the edited version of Greg's book is on that computer. Our computer guru has been able to save the data but we have to wait until Monday to get it back on. Another delay. We are attending two conferences next week and then we have Easter. It puts us back a long way. The way things are going the Winter edition of the magazine will be coming out in Spring! And we have to get our Seminar notes together for those who missed out. And then Greg and Karen are on holidays for two weeks. Prue and I will be busy.
Hey guys and girls! Ian missed his flight too! The one bit of good news is that we must surely have reached the trough for Premium bets as we are now on our longest ever losing run with no winners yesterday. But with Powerbet and the new strategy, yesterday was a good winning day with $362 profit. I make it four times or posssibly fiive that we have had losing days this month which means thirteen good winning days and only eight losing days for the year to date.
Thursday March 18th: The Seminar guests have headed off after a great few days at Rafferty's. Greg misread his plane ticket and so arrived in Sydney three hours after his flight to Perth had left. Luckily, he has been able to get on a later flight. I got a call from the office about 9.30 advising me that Energy Australia had tested our power circuits late yesterday and when the power turned on this morning, the power circuit to my office blew, along with my computer which was plugged in but the switch was not turned on, losing a ten year data base and several articles that were being prepared for next magazine.
Yesterday was a good example for our Seminar group because we hardly selected a winner and everyone got to see that you can do all the right things and still lose. Sometimes this is the most important lesson you can learn. It ceratainly makes the point to those puneters who think "well I know that I should only bet betting 10% of my Bank but when I add up the profits from today it will build up my funds more quickly." It rarely works like that. Just use what funds you have in the right way and there is far more chance of buidling it up.
We will have photos of the group made up as souvenirs of the last ever live in Winform Seminar. Greg Newbold. You are right, there may be more Winform Seminars, but only for one day at the most. You can only eat and drink so much.
Monday March 15th: Our Saturday Daily Feature race was given out as a eachway special at $9.00 but unfortunately went down in a photo finish for 1st. Craig Williams road Solchow of the pace which was is not the hores natural style. We had a couple of ripper results in the the Black Type races in both Melbourne and Sydney Be Positive $16 IAS Fixed Odds & De Lightning Ridge $18 fixed odds, which surprissed me as I thought they where more wishful thinking than sure things. Just goes to show, you never quite know how the penny will fall.
Garry has headed down to Raffertys resort today to prepare for our guests arriving for the Professional Punting Seminar.I will be joining him later and unfortunately Prue has had to return home with the flu which just leaves poor old Karen in the Office for the next few days on her own , so please be patient while she answers 4 phones and processes orders from 2 PCs. She will get to everyone in due course.
The seminar will cover a fair portion money managment strategies and the icy cold drinks at the end off day will give everyone a chance to absorb what has been covered. We will be back in the office late Thursday and thats when the next diary entry will bee on this site. Good luck for the week - Greg.
Sunday March 14th: $1627.40. That's how much I made with my Powerbet strategy from a $20 base bet yesterday. I made a point of betting so I would have something to show the twenty odd attendees at the professional racing seminar from tomorrow at Raffertys Resort. I passed up the opportuntiy to make more money so I could whip up dinner then settle down to watch the Newcastle Knights prove evryone wrong and beat Canterbury Bulldogs in the openinng round of the NRL. It was good to watch.
The doomsayers got it badly wrong. I even heard commentators say during the week that they "felt sorry for the Knights" This is because they lost two players (roommates) who got caught up in the family drug business of one of them. They forgot that there was a "team" out there that has worked hard through a long hard pre season made fit and ready by a first time coach.
I am hoping for a similar result with my team this week. We have a similar mix. Some hardened professionals and some enthusiastic players keen to prove that they can prove the doomsayers wrong and actually make money from racing.
Saturday March 13th: I am told that quite a lot of our clients with Betezy Accounts withdrew $2,000 or more for the past week. Of course we don't know who they are but all the corporates have set up in their software to track when otherwise unconnected account holders all bet the same horses and do the same things. Professional Punters who are banned often use "bowlers", people who open up accounts and are paid a commission so that the pro can bet without being tracked.
In this case, of course, it turned out to be several members betting Powerbet which means that the bets atre often for very odd amounts e.g. $37 here $163 there. It baffles them. I received a similar call from Centrebet a couple of weeks ago. It seems that a few of our Members all backed the same exotice bet with them and won. Once I explained that it was merely our Members all betting on our Daily and Weekend Feature Races it was quickly accepted.
It's a funny thing but they have no such tracking arrangements for people who lose. It has now been revealed that three UK betting firms are considering a takeover of Centrebet and none of them is 888.com who were originally suspected of being behind the deal. So which coprporate is being targeted by 888.com?
Yesterday I got back from Sydney in time for the $24+ winner at Ballarat. This helped Powerbet make over $1500 on the day for a profit for the week in spite of a stop loss occuring earlier in the week. Well, that's how it works. And now for today. Ironic that Shocking didn't make it.
Friday March 12th: It's shocking how Shocking can just go back in the field for the Australian Cup this week but he'll probably win it. It's good news for those punters who took the early odds. Last week's weather has created havoc for horses, trainers and connections with well set plans being in dissaray. Now you really have to watch where horses will run as some are now underprepared for their assignments.
I had a good win yesterday and wrapped it up. There were just too many races that were inelgible because of small fields and the like although those who stayed picked up plenty of extra at Bunbury. It is good to see we can now get fixed odds on these WA meetings with Tabcorp and Unitab competing strongly in the fixed price market.
I miss out on a bet today with a few basics like lawn mowing and 'shopping' needing to be done with me being away at the Seminar next week.
Greg Horn's new book is selling well but it is important to note that although it will be available to download, it is also being printed as normal. The download version will obviously be available earlier, about two eeks earlier and also it is better for overseas purchasers. At $149, a 50% discount on the public price, it is a good idea to get in now.
Thursday March 11th: We reported that Tabcorp had an error yesterday and we put this on our e-news. There was and still is an error but it is on the Victorian Tabcorp website. We reported that no DFS ratings were available but that on NSW skyform ratings were substituted. All Tabcorp account holders would now be aware that Skyform Ratings have replaced DFS ratings, however David Bendeich has been able to find out that the Skyform ratings are the same as DFS Ratings so Premium subscribers need have no worries.
I finished editing Greg Horn's new book yesterday in between betting as the races were far apart. I did find an error in the official form. One Canterbury race did not have the fact that it was a fillies and mares race highlighted at the site I was using. It meant that I bet $300 on a wrong race. I did overcone this errror in the end but other users would have ended up in profit at a lot earlier stage.
I had to leave immediately after the 9th at Gold Coast and was still behind because of that error so had to bet the last at the expected odds at that time although Unitab already had their fixed price market up. I bet the top three horses finding the 3rd rater a winner at $7.30. I discovered after the race that our top rated horse had firmed from $5 to $2.50 which means anybody betting at that late stage would not have been able to fit the third horse in. It did mean for me that I ended the day in front.
Seminar bookings have now concluded with over 20 people attending and half of those are in reunion mode. It will be a great three nights...well we will be working during the day.
Wednesday March 10th: You may remember that there was one day last week when I had to leave the office early and missed the last few races and four winners. It left my Bank sitting on -$1019. Yesterday the frist few races were ineligible as there were many small fields. I decided to start up from where I left off and am I glad I did. Does that sound silly? It's not because although you bet race to race your action and results are purely random.
For any set of races your chances of winning or losing are the same. In this case it didn't take long to find the first winners, a $4.70 chance in a race where I had to bet two horses and a little later, a $9.20 winner which was the only horse bet in the race. That winner closed my series with a $1500+ profit. That was good enough for me to wrap it up for the day. Those who continued picked up a $11+ winner four races later.
We had good news and bad news from Terry yesterday. The bad news was that he suffered a suspected heart attack and may not make it to the Seminar next week. He had been looking forward to it. The good news is that he is in good hands and will be O.K.
We are still getting enquiry for the Seminar and yes we do have a couple of places still. There won't be another one so I'm fair dinkum there, I'm not Johnny Farnham with my 16th last ever tour.
Tuesday 9th March: Here's an email from Tim and my answer.

Subject: Re: 19235
G'day Garry, Your PS on the last message leads me back to my original question, in layman's terms, what does the Powerbet Software offer for $770 that The Money Factory, for twice the cost, does not? I have a special copy of your "Powerbet your way to Profits" (Issue 8) in my folder which I often referred to and was half-tempted to purchase on my visit to your office, and walked out with The Money Factory, believing (naively?) it was more adaptable and bigger, flasher, more whiz-bang, (you get the picture!) than Powerbet.
Please don't read anything negative on your part into that Garry I'm not casting any aspersions. It was my decision to buy The Money Factory believing (maybe mistakenly) that it was bigger (see above)
I also note from your ‘The Ideal Strategy’ that you recommend use of Money Factory for maximum returns. Does this imply that both are not used for similar purposes, and if not, could you please explain the difference to me.
I know you're (extra) flat-out at the moment Garry, and will understand if you can't get back to me straight away. Cheers, Tim M.
My reply to Tim:
At 4 a.m. I have no other obligations.
Money Factory is for use with, for example Premium where the strike rate is BIG and the dividend small. Powerbet is useless for this.
Powerbet is designed for use with two to four selections at a time with medium strike rates (minimum 16%) at average better than $5 and it feeds on constant turnover.
It also has an expectation that you will bust a bank regularly but also, in use it will create many ‘banks’. More than are lost. In actual fact each ‘bank’ represents just 10% of your overall Bank.
Yesterday I spent $700+ servicing our two vehicles. It saved me a lossy day. I did the figures when I got home and it appears I would have won $138 before a run of 37 bets with just two winners and a 'busted' bank. Three winners followed with small stakes for a loss on the day of $1,498. The race strike rate for the day was only 26% and we haver been running at this figure for about a week now. This happens in patches and it is nothing to worry about. The sudden chnage from mostly Good trakcs to mostly severely rain affected tracks explains it.
A similar thing could happen in Winter where you night get regular wet tracks but then get a run of good tracks. It is just a bump on the runway.
We purchased some stationary items for the Seminar yesterday and we bought two extra just in case we get some late starters. Two more is it though so stop sitting on the fence and make a decision. The whole affair will be fairly informal and we have a break every hour so your attention doesn't wander and I don't go hoarse.
Monday 8th March: Sunday was a washout in more ways than one. Our three qualifying Premiums failed to win, many of the fields were reduced to minimal straters and two more race meetings were abandoned. I hit the Premiums for a multi and left it at that. A wise decision as it turned out.
Today we have an Adelaide Cup which is slightly abve the standard of a mid week staying event. Good luck with that one but Greg will probably have a go at making sense of it. The rain does seem to have caught up with Adelaide though.
I have a busy day with our vehicles getting serviced, a mid year meeting with my accountants and In between I will be editing Greg Horm's new book "Professional Punting- My Personal Approach."
Greg will be busy today putting together his report on Saturdays Warwick Farm meeting and finalising our Seminar program. We actually can organise four more places in total but then that is it.
Sunday March 7th: Two Premiums two winners, although it took a while getting them on the web page together as for a second Saturday in a row we had computer problems. Can't wait until daylight saving ends as it will make it so much easier when only WA is delayed but still in time for people heading off to the actual races.
Powerbet scored over $1000 after the Gold Coast chipped in with some sensational priced winners. The Quaddie paid $2400.
You all know by now that my son Mat has a gambling problem. It is not that he can't pick winners. He is just undisciplined. I invested in one $200 Powerbet Bank and said O.K. you do what you do , two horses per race but just enter them in the Powerbt Program and bet whatever the program says. I will give yoiu half what we win. His strike rate was abysmal. There is no other word for it, but after just three winners he had won over $100. Better still there followed a few more shorter priced winners and he transferred his profits after each series to get to $120. His current series is down about $50 when we ran out of races but he got the point I think.
We ran a new style service for the first time yesterday and sent it to our Grandslam subscribers. The experiment was cut short with the Flemington storm but we did get two Trifectas in five races. The new style also cuts down on our programming time of a Saturday allowing us a less pressured morning.
Saturday March 6th: I wasn't able to bet yesterday but a Member advised that the win came at Sale Race 5 with a $14+ win producing $468 profit. With Bathurst abandoned and Sunshine Coast Cushion being a track we don't recommend that was the end of betting for the day. We have three vacancies for the Seminar. I was almost hoarse yesterdasy from talking to Powerbet users about the new strategy. At the Seminar I can tell over 20 people at the same time.
Late yesterday I opened my past Seminar file and found all the Seminar photos back to 1995. What a walk down memory lane. Greg actually spotted himself. Was it 97? I saw a trimmer more energetic person like myself but much more experienced these days.
The Melbouren weather is a lot better than expected and the radar currently shows nothing major but Warick Farm copped it last night and Karen and Greg will definitely get their feet wet. I am looking forward to Greg's report on Monday. Will the Farm live up to past glories?
On another note, we exchanged contracts on our Sydney property yesterday and I have to thank Judy Egan of Keith Soames Real Estate at Wahroonga. Not only was she a great help to us when we purchaased the propeerty originally but she has, knowing that we kive in Newcastle, coordinated all the minor repairs, recommended carpet suppliers landscapers and handy men to renew the appearance of the property and guarantee that when offered to the market it was A1. Well done Judy, and no she's not a punter and will probably never see this but if all agents were of this calibre they would a much higher standing in the community.
Friday March 5th: It all came back in bucketloads yesterday with several good priced winners. Between now and the Seminar though, I will be unable to bet as I have several queries which will only be resolved by going back through the database and entering another couple of thousand bets. The number of live bets I can have is too limited with only about 60 bets altogether yesterday.
I was asked if I had any "deals" for people interested in the Money Factory Package and to come to the Seminar so I have put together just one deal and it is this. Money Factory is normally $1595 and purchasers get a three month Premium Package with that. There is also a once off cost of $295 for those who wish to purchase the Key To Winning Consistently III Rule Set which applies to Premium. The Seminar costs $1195 so in total $3085. I can offer just two packages at $2595. We will be going through all our software in detail at the Seminar.
Greg spent most of yesterday analysing the form for Flemington and Warwick Farm tomorrowa and Greg will actually be at the Farm but in our email broadcast to members yesterday he offered his $50 selection package for Flemington and Rosehill. It'll be lonely there Greg.
One other little project that Greg has been working on is his new and only book to date. It showcases his thirty year career on the punt and his approach to Racing is very different to mine. It highlights the races he chooses to bet on and the reasons why and chronicles his success with them. The good thing abiut it is that it will be easy to read and understand and we hope to finalise the material and make it available to pre-purchasers in April.
Thursday March 4th: Were you one of the lucky ones that didn't have the opportunity to bet yesterday? I had to invoke a stop loss again yesterday which means that we have had two losing days this month. Not a good start but in punting terms a very small sample size. The sad thing about yesterday, other than losing, is that three of the meetings were "good" meetings normally yet our race strike rate was less then 20% and we lost some of those winners because they didn't fall within the 100% we require.
Tom Clippingdale wrote in with some queries which I answered directly and there are some elimination ideas I hadn't experimented with yet. Here are some of his questions (with answers)
1. Have you considered setting a Wnet lower limit for
selections? I haven't investigated this yet but will
2. You eliminate races for females. Do you ever eliminate
individual females in mixed races? I do bet in fillies races. I have looked at eliminating fillieas against all comers and mares against all comers. Both categories are big losers BUT by taking these out we reduce our race strike rate substantially. If betting level stakes you might even hit level stakes profits by taking these out but with Powerbet it will actually lead to longer losing runs.
3. In one of your diary entries you said, "Also, any horse that
is longer in the market then $21 is not backed. The strike rate of
these is between 1% and 2%. In my 3,000 bets so far and about 1400+
races, I have only missed three winners by eliminating these
horses."
How many such eliminations would there have been altogether? Eliiminated about fove yesterday.
4. In eliminating race meetings where you normally avoid
betting, what limits do you personally use for this purpose? Haven't eliminated any yet other than meetinsg where there are no fixed price markets plus Sunshine Coast Cushion and Canberra Acton.
Unfortunately, I cannot come to your convention, but I hope it all
goes well for you. I'm sure many will benefit greatly from the
encouragement they receive and the ideas they glean from yourselves
and the other attendees.
Cheers Mate,
Tom Clippingdale.
We have five vacancies still for the Seminar since we were able to secure more places yesterday. It would be ideal if those Members who asked to have a "tentative" booking could confirm please to assist with our planning and anyone who is still thinking about it should call: (02) 4950 1747.
Wednesday March 3rd: Today's the day. For the next year I really am 63 but I've got to stop myself from saying "I'll be 64 next year." because I did that last year and it affected my thinking. We are what we think and I am smarter than that.
In preparation for the upcoming Seminar I requested that Rafferty's Resort find me some extra places. I get an answer on that today but I'm sure they can even if it costs a little more. So please, if you want to come, call us up and we'll get you in somehow.
I also, for the first time, added up the results for February. For a $20 base bet we made just over $19,000 so I am not too distressed about calling a stop loss yesterday, even though that was followed by four good winners which I wasn't on. I did make one big mistake yesterday when I didn't pick uo a late scratching. It had been made earlier in the day and so I should have included the next horse. It was the one which knocked me out. The worst thing about it was that it stole the photo from one of our other horses.
The day started well with a cavalcade of winners but as I said to David at the time "the winners are falling in the wrong spot." Six losing days out of the last 59. I can live with that.
GATEWAY TECH SOLUTIONS: Frank called yesterday wanting to sell his licence he bought from Gateway Tech Solutions. He didn't suggest a price but his phone number is below.
He bought a three year license for $5,800 from Gateway Tech Solutions to trade on his betting account and if you buy his licence they will trade for you on your account. I doubt his Bookmaker is involved with Gateway but I think Gateway bet wherever your account is. You simply authorise them to place bets on your behalf. You do have to pay Gateway 10% of any winnings.
They SMS you the selections and place your bets. Frank doesn’t have to do anything. Frank deposited $1,000 in his account. He was originally charged $8,800 for his licence but negotiated a reduction to $5,800. No guarantees were offered.
To date after nine months Frank has lost $700 even though he started with a $400 win. His number is 0422 965 291. Maybe if any of our readers have had a similar experience they can have a chat to Frank. He says the licence is good for another two years.
We have our own opinions which we can't publish here.
Winform Gold which is part of the Premium Selection package had two good winners and a place from three Selections yesterday.
Raffertys Resort have confirmed this morning that they have secured an extra 6 places for our Seminar with one of those prebooked already. So, as this is the only Professional Punting Seminar to be offered this year don’t miss out.”
Tuesday March 2nd: With my $20 base bet I made another $600+ yesterday. One of my exclsuions is no fillies and mares races and no mares races. This morning (about 3 a.m.) I was busy analysing the data base and was surprised to see how many fillies and mares races there are and how few for mares only. The upshot is that the fillies and mares races are a dead loss with only one profitable year while the Mares races had several profitable years and made a profit overall. The race strike rate in these races was quite respectable at 42% plus but the low average dividends make them a losing proposition.
I have also reveiewed our performance on artificial tracks. Apart from Toowoomba and Geelong, the other tracks make a consistent loss in the top three and therefore, apart from the occasional special, we shouldn't bet on them at all.
Monday March 1st 2010: It won't be long and I'll be fully back in business as we have sold our Sydney property on the very first day. Yesterday I lost the afternoon as I waited in a queue for four and a half hours to get the results of my recent blood tests. I am in good shape, medically at least, although I could lose ten kilos at least.
Premiums had two out of two yesterday but betting all races with Powerbet produced the first loss of the month at -$1080 which still represents a profit of just under $200 for the last three days. One thing I didn't do witrh the workout when I got home yesterday, was take out the Fillies and Mares races which meant a possible turnaround of $1,500+. I am still investigating this aspect.
Did no one of the thousand or more Weekend Feature Race Subscribers take the First Four? There was fewer than $15 Australia wide invested on it through all the TABs. Allowing for flexis that probabaly represents about 50 punters altogether.
Sunday 28th February: Well we can cry in our beer about Grandslam but did you notice the Weekend Feature Race with the $29,000 First Four ($54000 Stab) in our Top Four Rated horses. That means an outlay of just $24 or $120 if you boxed our Top Five. The Trifecta at $3000+ wasn't bad either and all of our Grandslam Interent subscribers were given it too!
No I didn't get it, not after the blind panic to get back to Newcastle to repair the damage to our computers and get the Ratings up before the first Metropolitan race.
I did manage to get $600+ with a $20 base bet. Today is the very last day of February so if we win again it aill be one whole month of consistent winnings but the figures are just in line with normal. The point is I guess I don't care anymore. You can lead a horse to water but you know the rest! I just congratulate the people who have been smart enough to sign up for the Seminar and those that have been smart enough to get on board with the latest strategy.
My biggest problem is whether or not Greg and his wife Karen will be in on Monday or will they have taken off with their first Four winnings?
Saturday 27th February: If we win again today and tomorrow that will be the whole month of February with no losing days. Bit of a gamble hey?
Yesterday was $616.80 profit at 5.30 with only the last at Ipswich and then the Moonee Valley night meetiing to go. I had promised to take my daughter Belle (older Members would remember when she was our Membership secretary in the 90's) for dinner and a movie. I missed the longshot winner of the last which would have added hundreds more to the day but you can't be there to invest non stop.
I'm off to get the Normanhurst house ready for the Open house today and already there have been over 20 enquiries. So to Sydney for that then back to my home office in time for the action. Greg tells me there are 14 Group or Listed races today. He is excited by that but to me that's just 14 more opportunities to profit out of about 80 that are on today.
Brenton Burford should be recovering today from a successful Prostate operation which should have happened yesterday. I know everyone will wish him a speedy recovery. His biggest problem will be the withdrawal pain from not being able to have a bet today as the system he posted in a recent magazine is going very well.
Friday 26th February: It was only necessary to bet until Townsville Race 6 yesterday as that $6.90 winner increased the profit to $160 on a $10 base bet. Only three race meetings yesterday as Albany had no fixed price market. There were also several small fields. In all our profit came from just 12 races and we won five of those. Had we continued we would have made more Today there are five meetings we can bet.
The other interesting thing is this. So far I have not eliminated any race meetings at all, even the ones where we normally avoid betting. Once we do that we should do even better. We had two more bookings for the Seminar yesterday, including a punter who scored the $40,000 winning day with a couple of all ups on Melbourne Cup Day.
Thursday 25th February: There's something about Wednesday's and as I drove to pick up Mat from work around 3 p.m. yesterday I heard loser after loser with the occassional short priced winner and I thought "here we go". Today's the day we blow a bank or incurr a stop loss. Arriving home I caught up on the figures in Powerbet and was in time to back a $13.90 winner then a couple of races after $8.10, then $3.40 and finally in the last at Mount Gambier $14.80. Pity I didn't notice it was a 7yo and I shouldn't have backed it but the plan was already up over $1,000 for my $20 base bet before that. That last winner was only one step past a base bet anyway.
I whacked away with two Canadians yesterday (in honour of the Olympics?) but came unstuck when the best I could do was a double in each of two sets. I didn't see the update which ruled out the last winner at Bunbury so at least I saved a litte bit.
I might have to snooze a little bit today as I got up at 1.00 a.m. to write up some of the presentation material for the Seminar. I have secured an extra six places by the way. The Rafferty's Resort after missing out for a while is suddenly scoring conference after conference. I know almost everyone who has booked so far personally so I know we are going to have a great Seminar. There are still plenty of cheap flights left for anyone wanting to come. I guess the problem is that a few of our Members don't want to stop using the new Powerbet strategy while it is going so well. We will have to have a losing day sometime as we haven't had one since late January.
Wednesday 24th February: The worst part about running a diary is that you see your life go by one day at a time. With one Premium bet yesterday and one winner I can handle that. It doesn't happen every day but every day does start for many of our subscribers with the anticipation that there will be Premium Bets and that they will win.
Ken was just one of many subscribers that backed our top rated horse Our Purrfect Angel at Sale for a $54.10 win. There were all sorts of reason though for not backing it. On course it was $26 so a no bet for me but as was pointed out, it was only $18 with Centrebet and $21 with Sportsbet. It was also a fillies and mares race and so historically these are bad races. Had we missed this race we would still have had the Top Rated winner of the next Sale race at $8.00. I don't think the Members who backed it are keen to give the money back.
Powerplay Subscribers have had a tough run with the Quaddies and Trebles lately and I have given back a third of last year's profits. as I said to Damien though. It only takes one good one. I am currently reviewing our Powerplay strategy yet again (I do this everey six months) so we will see what happens.
Tuesday 23rd February: Only twenty races yesterday and seven winners but still a $197 profit on base bet of $20. The winnings keep arriving. Yesterday I reviewed all the race fields less than eight for December 2009. There was nothing wrong with the race strike rate but the average dividend was just $4.84. The very first run was 28 races 8 wins and nothing over $4.80. A sure fire recipe for a bust. From that point on there was a profit of $1100, a net of $90 for the month. There was actually a $23.30 winner amongst that lot but on balance I feel we can leave them out. It was frustrating to find some races where we had three bets in a six horse field and still missed the winner.
Greg Horn is well on the way with his latest project, a new punting book that looks at punting and Racing from his personal angle and incorporating the same strategies that he uses himself. It includes his own staking plan which is more akin to a level stakes type strategy with variations according to expected prices. I've only seen glimpses but so far it is looking good.
At 3:00 a.m. I feel the need to highlight my successful strategies. Firstly, the best things I have done are the two Professional Staking Plans Money Factory Professional Edition and Powerbet. I have been frustrated by both plans at times but I have only ever busted a Money Factory once. Powerbet is a different animal and is designed to "bust" having a preset limit of 10% of your Bank as being the point where no further losses are pursued. I have never gone close to losing ten banks in a row, which of course is a total loss.
My personal betting strategies, Grandslam, Premium with parlays, and the Quaddies and Trebles have all had their ups and downs but generally have been very successful. The C Plan has been a great standby for me as well. I have been short of punting funds because of the non sale of my old house and the interest rate increases but just using Powerbet over the past week or so on a small base bet has netted me over $4,000 so it looks like I will be meeting my mortgage commitments from my Powerbet earnings.
I have seen in the last few weeks a huge turnaround at betezy with so many of our subscribers now using the new Powerbet plan that over 60% of Winform Betezy Account Holders are operating at a profit. Not great for Betezy but great for our clients. We have a large number of Members retired or semiretired who own Powerbet and use it just Monday to Friday on country and provincial meetings and that is where the bread and butter is. Not glamorous, just profitable. It is only since Betezy started offering best of three totes for these meetings that has made the difference. Beauty!
I have arranged a few more places at Raffertys Resort for the upcoming Seminar. It will focus on what it takes to be a professional punter but I have included a few social things as well so it will be fun too. I'm looking forward to it.
Monday 22nd February: Only a small number of meetings to bet on yesterday as we only bet when we can get a fixed odds market. That's the Powerbet strategy anyway. The one Premium bet won at better than $6. That's an enormous result and makes up in one bet what we lost last Wednesday.
Strike rate yesterday was 38% and profit for a $20 base bet $520.70. That was on an average dividend of juts $5.20, way below normal. I have decided to stick to my decision to leave out small fields for now.
Sunday 21st February: I was only able to observe Powerbet yesterday, in between pressure cleaning the driveway next door. Yes we have not sold the old house. Anyhow, I did see enough to convince me that it was another good day. I have saved the figures I need and will do the workout shortly. Grandslam had a short priced winner but no luck otherwise, so we gave back a goodly portion of last weeks winnings.
Yesterday there were five eligible 'Key to Winning Consistently III' Premium selections for three winners.
It's 11:00 a.m. and I am waiting for the Pinjarra scratchings before I post the Powerplay for today. I have put through yesterday's Powerbet and realise I should have paid a professional $200 to come and clean my concrete. By 5.30 the Powerbet with a $20 base bet was $1420 in front. A good stopping point as there were only six more races spread over the next three hours. Four of those won. The race strike rate on the day was just above normal at 38% and the dividends at $6.6 average about 50 cents above so no dramas with averages. I am impressed.
I have decided to make a once off special offer to new people. For $2995, I will give you Powerplay for one year and of coures Powerplay includes the Powerbet program. I will include attendance at this year's Professional Punting Seminar March 15th to 18th. If that's not a bargain I don't know what is. I'll limit this to the first three applicants.
Saturday 20th February: Good news at last. Mat's current employer is happy to have him back. But it does mean I still have to take him to work everyday. Good news for you too. I do a lot of my workouts before sunrise while I wait for him to get ready.
Powerbet had a good day yesterday. Let me rephrase that. Powerbet had an absolute blinder yesterday. The $3 guy made over $280, and that was with about a dozen races to go and Ken split when Duke Lgo, the only eligible contender in his race, had a win a good win. The best winner was $27.50. Remember, this was simply using the Ratings top three with a few simple rules which you will find in the Summer 2009 diary.
I have room for about another twelve members at the March Seminar. Although I am not making a profit at this Seminar I am really looking forward to meeting some of my past graduates again as well as meeting new ones.
Today is more than interesting with a good track at Caulfield a certainty. I like Psychologist in the Diamond with (call it a hunch as it is nowhere near my top rating) Avenue a bit of a smokie. I forgot to tell you my Powerbet win with a $20 base bet yesterday...$1300+ which means over $4,000 in the past eight days alone.
One day soon I will have to report on a "bust" i.e. a loss of $2,000 which is where I draw the line and start back at the base bet. If that happens I am already twice that in front. It's a good place to be.
Friday 19th February: It was too good to be true. Mat was being given a bit of a farewell from his current jobsite (Excuse for the guys to go to the pub) to go to his new job in Canberra. While at the pub he got a phone call to say he was no longer required for the Canberra job. That's bad news for me.
On amore positive note the new Powerbet strategy worked a treat yesterday. One Member has been running it with just a $2 base bet. He is hundreds in front and won well yesterday again. Another Member used a $3 base bet and made $184 yesterday. My $20 base bet showed a profit of $760+.
Thursday 18th February: I shouldn't have let Mat talk me into having those garlic chilli prawns last night. You always know next day when you have made a mistake. With Racing it's more instantaneous than that. Twice yesterday I broke my rules through not paying enough attention and twice it cost me, however after just a few races my Powerbet series was $460 in front so I stopped and restarted putting Magazines in envelopes. About 1,000 went out yesterday.
I would have made more money by continuing on but we do have commitments. I will finalise the rest of the day when I get to the office but I did notice that I could have made a lot more money if I did include the small fields. Because of the 100% minimum, when we do get the small field winners we do get quite good odds. I'll keep going with real cash.
There were two instances yesterday which showed how using a database can be the wrong information. I bet one horse at $7.50. It went to $8 and then was slammed into $4.60. After the race I would have only seen the $4.60 and acted on that. It may have affected the bet size, whether or not I included the third rated horse and so on. Another later instance had me on a horse at $8. It eased to $12 and so using past data I would have had a smaller bet. It won and even at the longer price would still have cleared the series buttthe size of the win would be different. It is swings and roundabouts to a degree.
I have had a number of queries about the rules I am applying. These are in a state of flux as I continue to look for the ideal set which will be given out to the attendees at the Professional Racing Seminar we are having at Raffertys Resort March 15th-18th. For now though it is simple. Using Winform Ratings we simply bet the Winform Top three, and based on the fixed prices available only bet those horses that fit into a 100% profit starting at the top horse. I'm not backing 2yo or horses 7yo and up. I am not betting in fields of less than 8.
I might get the top horse at $2.50 so if the second rated horses is at $7.50 or more or is maybe $7 but much higher best tote then this horse gets in and we look no further but if that second horse was $6.50 or less then the only bet is the top one and so on.
If the top horse is a 7yo then it is not considered. Instead use the 2nd horse and possibly the thrid horse but we don't go further. Also, any horse that is longer in the market then $21 is not backed. The strike rate of these is between 1% and 2%. In my 3,000 bets so far and about 1400 or so races I have only missed three winners by eliminating these horses.
Last night I attanded a local community meeting. Our area is dotted with coalmines and a new company has bought out an existing played out mine with a view to changing it to a longwall operation and sustining it for another 20 years. There is only one road in and one road out of our suburb and if the operation goes ahead, there will be one truck leaving the mine every 60 seconds and the present history is that mots of these trucks are overloadded by as much as 50%. I have organised a protest. Residents will be switching on their vehicle lights whenever they drive on Rutleys Road and we are trying to organise for a three kilometre procession of as many residents as we can get. We hope to persuade the Government and the mine owners to build a conveyor operation instead, which is how the other operating mine does it.
Happy punting today. Just three meetings including the Western Australia, Mount Barker meeting where we don't expect to be able to gte fixed prices.
Three race meetings today, so an easy day with plenty of time in between races. The Winform Professional Racing Seminar is filling up fast so we expect a few more bookings today. The Magazine is despatched later this week. I myself will be in Sydney again today, probably for the last time dealing with our property at Normanhurst. When it sells I will be once again in control of things even though my other property remains on the market and unsold. The $6,000 a month repayments make life very difficult at present and it is no fun using the credit card to fill the gaps but at least I am racking up a few reward points. I should get my $20 gift card any time now!
