By Garry Robinson

If you have worked in Australia in the past thirty years or so your employer has put away 9% of your salary into a Superannuation fund. You might have even contributed some of your own money.

The fund invests your money for you for retirement but first there are two rorts. The first is the Government’s input tax of up to 30% on superannuation contributions and it will take many years just to get your initial 9% back to square one.

The second rort is that your Superannuation fund charges you a fee based on your whole investment each year regardless of whether or not the fund has made a profit for you or not.

You could add a third rort. The Superannuation employees are free to gamble your money without your knowledge and I guess if you read the news you will know that for many of these employees it is all a game that they play for free. No. It is more than that. They actually get paid to play.

It has got to the stage where people who were financial advisers are not game to admit it.  Better to be from one of the more reputable trades like car salesmen and real estate agents. You’ll be a lot more popular. At least you end up with a nice car or house. If you are like many Australians you may not even own a house anymore because some sleazy securities dealer talked you into a bad Stock Market investment to fund your retirement and now you can’t even do that because you need to keep working just to survive.

After working for many years in an office my super fund lost over 60% in the last 2 years but they still remembered to charge me a fee.” By comparison I have never had a year where I lost 60% of my betting bank.

A while back now my wife and I even went on a working Holiday for a couple of years travelling through Queensland. During that time we did several jobs along the way in various locations to keep some extra cash coming in. Last year out of the blue I received a letter from the Governments Lost Superannuation Fund advising me that a certain Superannuation Fund, which shall remain nameless, had some unclaimed contributions in holding and please contact them.

Upon contacting the gentlemen in the call centre gave me a very hard time. I was given the 3rd degree to prove my identity and then he refused to tell me how much was owing to me or what company that I worked for had paid the 9%. I explained that it was a long time ago and we were travelling so it could have been one of many employers. Long story short, they still have my unclaimed funds. What a joke and what a rort.

So how would you like to be in an industry where there are no taxes on your profits or your  fund and where returns are stable on an annual basis and your money has the chance to make more money every single day of the week? We have all seen how the stock market and investment products as a whole are a huge gamble.

Racing too is a gamble but unlike your superannuation fund this is one business that only charges you a fee if you actually make a profit (e.g. if betting on an bet exchange). And all profits you make are 100% tax free in your hands. What could be better than that?

Racing can be like your own super fund. You can make the decisions and you get the rewards if they are there to be got. Certainly it is possible to lose but not if you put in the work or get someone else to do it for you.

There are many reputable selection services out there with long term records for you to check. Used with a reliable staking plan like Money Factory Professional Edition and conservatively get out there and get to it.
